editorial,Chicago Tribune on Wednesday, June 8:
snip ....Grades do measure important attributes: tenacity, organization, calculation and, especially, persistence. They do not, though, reliably measure passion, kindness or integrity. No matter what our transcripts say, most of us come to realize that desire trumps talent - and that, if you have a lousy attitude, neither of those strengths will bring fulfillment, or much else.

A quick search can set the record straight. I am fairly certain that Pres Bush got his MBA at Harvard. He is obviously highly intelligent. Contrary to the lying friends of Kerry Press Corp, they do not give these degrees away.
Of all the people you mentioned, Condi and Newt are undoubtedly the most intelligent and informed-proof that Ivy League status means zilch when it comes to actual ability.
Bush majored in history at Yale and got an MBA at Harvard.
Both Kerry and Bush went straight to Yale after prep school, both spent 4 years there. They are actually 2.5 years apart, Kerry (12/11/63) and Bush (7/06/46). Any difference in educational timelines is probably due to a quirk of being X number of years old in august to enroll in kindergarten.
"Of all the people you mentioned, Condi and Newt are undoubtedly the most intelligent and informed-proof that Ivy League status means zilch when it comes to actual ability."
I don't doubt their intelligence, but, by what objective proof do you have they are the most intelligent?
I am sorry you are an atheist. So you think all of these complex life systems, the interstellar perfection required for life, are all just chance events? I suggest you know little about how complex life really is. By comparison, manmade objects are before primitive.
I've been asked for GPA, and even transcripts, many times.
Say what? I've never heard Duke mentioned as an Ivy-league school....
Its not Ivy in the literal sense, thats a closed circle of eight but in terms of standing its got to be right up there. I found out that West Point and the Naval Academy were once considered part of the Ivy League, so if you added them you could call Ike, Carter and McCain Ivy Leaguers as well.
I think there's even more going on here than that. I think the MSM is trying to kill any chances he might have of going after Hillary in the Dem primaries. She's their choice.
Never asked?
Wow.
Most jobs ask for where you went to school (HS and college), what your major was and GPS.
Grades and class standing are not the defining criteria, what matter is what you do. . .and just sounding ponderous and serious doesn't mean you are intelligent (Kerry).
Heck, nature in general...not just life...right?
I believe one of Bush's subjects was Japanese.
As a side note of interest--Harvard is the nation's oldest university started in, I think the year was 1635, by a Christian minister.
DOOK University (aka University of New Jersey at Durham) is often called "The Harvard of the South," just like Georgia Tech is called "The MIT of the South." FWIW, YMMV
