It still doesn't explain how a person immunized against this could get it. Insofar as I know babies still have to get the shot against this.
The vaccines are not always effective - a lot of kids have come down with it who were vacinated. Also, because of some serious, often fatal side-effects from the pertussis vaccine, many parents opted not to have their children immunized.

I wonder how many people will think this is CHEAP labor when these diseases hit their families?! The only people getting off CHEAP are the EMPLOYERS hiring ILLEGALS. Is it worth it?!!! Besides the diseases, crimes and the taxpayers are stuck with the bills.
Part of the problem is American parents not doing their job of immunizing their kids and then you have the anti vaccine Moms who add to the problem.
The schools here in Oregon had to go start refusing kids due to lack of parental compliance. And they even had free vaccines.
Exactly. Diseases like leprosy, whooping cough, and tuberculosis, which were pretty much eradicated in the U.S. are now cropping up with alarming frequency in areas with large illegal alien population. Yet neither the GOP nor the 'Rats see anything wrong with it.
In 1989 one of my babies had his first DPT vaccine and we thought he was going to die from the reaction he had. We were told by the PEDIATRICIAN that it was probably the Pertussis vaccine reaction and from then on to only give him the DT vaccine, not the DPT. From then on, he had the DT vaccine series and had no problems with that version.

True. Not only whooping cough, but resistant strains of TB, polio and other diseases. Sadly, maybe only a pandemic of catastrophic proporations will open the eyes of the politicians in Washington to the illegal immigrant epidemic.
Vaccination doesn't convey perpetual immunity.
Since we've been having a significant outbreak here in Tucson, it's been in the news quite a bit lately.
The DPT inoculation is not effective forever. Authorities here are recommending those 11 yrs and older get a booster. I'm retired and have no day to day contact with children (the main carriers) so am not too worried.
But if I was a parent or caregiver in frequent contact, I'd be talking to my doc about getting a shot.
My wife had whooping cough last summer. It was a nationwide epidemic then.

You're absolutely right. Multidrug resistant TB, the alphabet list of Hepatitis, Denghue Fever, Whooping cough, the list is endless, brought to the US by leaky borders and willful blindness on the part of the admin. The goal is one hemisphere, free travel, free trade, no matter what. American safety/jobs/lives are way, way down at the bottom of the list in small print.
