WASHINGTON - In a meeting with members of Congress, President Bush said he needs to do a better job explaining his position on immigration changes, House Majority Leader Tom Delay said Wednesday.
"He admitted he hasn't done a very good job in being clear to the American people where he's coming from, and he's going to try to do better," said Delay, who attended the White House session where the president discussed his legislative agenda.

The Pres has a stance? Is this the run-up to a policy?
This is damage control. Rove must have been reading the messages boards.
I think the President may have read that letter I recently sent him.
Well, if we let ourselves get divided over this then we'll lose and we'll deserve it, and the border problem *still* won't get solved.
Actually, I think the guest worker card idea is a pretty good one. If they're coming over here to work I'm not so concerned about them. Ease the flood so that the border patrol can then deal with the *remainder* of the really dangerous illegals, and then certainly be more effective.
"Well... that's just it. No wall is going to work completely, and whatever weakness there is will be the way they flood through. The only way to make any "sealing" work is to make it difficult for them to move freely around once they get here. Checkpoints at state lines, random "show your papers" stops. Make everybody carry a passport all the time, else risk being deported."
Or they could say, enforce the law that gave the INS the right to go to company HR offices and ask to see their documentation of employees' citizenship. But of course, that law isn't enforced, because when it was tried even once, boy, did Tyson howl.
How about we do THAT before we do any wall-buildin' or amnesty proposin'? We USE THE LAWS WE HAVE.
Writing more laws ALWAYS seems to be the solution. More government enabling.
Your boy-wonder is gonna try damage control.
Gee a line straight from the DUmmies, you'll probably be saying, "chimpy" next.
Bump to that. Sadly.
I tell you one thing, if I hear him use the phrase "It's hard work" once more, I'll vomit.
Maybe it would be better to try some realistic ideas first.
You're going to use illegals to build a fence? Gee... they'd never figure out that's a good way to build the tunnels.
There you go!
Oh darn you with your totally blind faith. And I thought fanatics were only on the other side. If you think a Real ID program is going to keep illegals on the other side of the border you are deluding yourself. He has the power to stop this nonsense anytime he chooses....he simply chooses not to. So much for balls
How about "willing workers".
We already know what his position is...And he knows we know it...Now, he's gonna 'spin it'...
I'm *all for* that. I am boggled that employers aren't held responsible for the immigration status of employees... in fact... as an employer I'm not even allowed to ask.
This is where the guest worker card comes in. I'd be willing to bet that most of the people coming across the border already *have* jobs waiting for them someplace. OK... so let the employer sponsor them and their card and then agree to keep track of them.
Yeah it sure take a lot of balls to pontificate from a keyboard.
I'll let President Bush, Tom Delay, Kyl, and Cornyn, do the real work.
Do you want to fix it or are you having more fun just b1tching about it?
