WASHINGTON - In a meeting with members of Congress, President Bush said he needs to do a better job explaining his position on immigration changes, House Majority Leader Tom Delay said Wednesday.
"He admitted he hasn't done a very good job in being clear to the American people where he's coming from, and he's going to try to do better," said Delay, who attended the White House session where the president discussed his legislative agenda.

"I think the American people understand that the president is going to continue to make America a safer place," Gross said.
The only question is for whom? Certainly not for citizens.
The bottom line of the article shows this to be nothing more than paying lip service to McLame's amnesty purchase plan. (Treasonous out of touch ______s.) So much for the popularity increase.
LOL. I'm guessing the word "deportation" won't be mentioned.
There is no conflict with Delay, now your hero, tancredo, who went to the press and said that Delay should step aside, has the comflict.
I'd like to see the specifics of how we're supposed to seal the borders. We can't do it in Iraq where it's needed even worse and we have the whole dang army.
A shame... President Bush, through inaction, is actually encouraging the Criminal Aliens.
They are ruining our country.
That President Bush either can't see this or doesn't care is stunning.
Watch The Hildabeaste on this. She knows she can pick up plenty of right-leaning votes by seeming to be tough on Criminal Aliens (note I did not write, "being tough" :)
I'll take your word on that since you seem to be the self appoited expert, maybe from experience, on such things.
I don't think so. I sense a shift in the mood of the country and so must Karl Rove. President Bush will have to adjust to it in order to lead or he will be on the wrong side of History pertaining to this issue.
If President Bush is not going to do what I think he should do than we as American Citizens lose. Citizenship means nothing when illegals have the same rights that native born Americans have. Hold on to your wallet.
Applicants can only apply after returning to their native country, not just pay a silly fee.
You want specifics? I don't hear any from either side.
Can you direct me to Tancredo's bill? What's the number?
I am actually leaning that way also.
What you think he should? Are you a senator from your state?
He can't do it alone; there is nobody in the Senate or the House who is going to help him.
Private industry is capable of SEALING the borders in less than 6 months. Tight enough that no human could enter without permission. Just because it hasn't been done, doesn't mean it can't be.
Well... that's just it. No wall is going to work completely, and whatever weakness there is will be the way they flood through. The only way to make any "sealing" work is to make it difficult for them to move freely around once they get here. Checkpoints at state lines, random "show your papers" stops. Make everybody carry a passport all the time, else risk being deported.
That would work, and I'd prefer not to live like that.
And then you also have the Mckennedy bill in the Senate. Kyl/Cornyn are going to propose a conservative alternative.
JMO, but I think the White House will work with Delay, Kyl, and Cornyn, and not the backstabber tancredo.
Can you direct me to the proposal? I'm intrigued.
"I'll take your word on that since you seem to be the self appoited expert, maybe from experience, on such things."
And since YOU are so knowledgable why don't don't you tell us one effective thing he has done to stop illegals and drugs from crossing the border. Take your time, I'll wait.
