WASHINGTON - In a meeting with members of Congress, President Bush said he needs to do a better job explaining his position on immigration changes, House Majority Leader Tom Delay said Wednesday.

"He admitted he hasn't done a very good job in being clear to the American people where he's coming from, and he's going to try to do better," said Delay, who attended the White House session where the president discussed his legislative agenda.

It should be extremely embarassing to the GOP that Hillary's few throwaway words - utterly worthless ones - are still better on a major constitutional issue than the President's.

"Just what is it about immigration that makes so many conservatives lose their bearings?"

Indeed.

Keep up the good fight, guys. There is literally nothing less conservative and anti-capitalist than this massive federal bureaucracy loving, anti-immigration nonsense.

Here is the face of the Bush border policy

Actually, that's the face of a completely inept federal bureaucracy that should not be expanded but scrapped.

I used to... but then the "conservative" Bush made it his first priority to foist a trillion-dollar entitlement upon us... and after having twice sworn a solemn oath to uphold the Constitution, defies it outright with his immigration policy. He once said "with us or against us", and now gives our money to terrorists in the PA and is considering negotiating with Hamas and Hezbollah.

I used to trust George W. Bush, but reality has intruded most unpleasantly upon that illusion.

Nothing less conservative and more anti-capitalist, I should say.

The problem is that GWB is a capitalist and a conservative and you are neither. So naturally you don't trust him. That's very understandable.

HELLO !! Read the article....it says even DeLay agrees with Tom "that illegals should return home & apply for any guest worker status. (remember Dane......DeLay agrees with Tancredo)

Agrees with him on WHAT? Where is Tancredo's bill? What's the number? What's in it?

DeLay has said people who are in the U.S. illegally should have to return to their native country before applying for a U.S. guest worker program.

Let's say we got them all back to their native country. Would you then support a program that lets any Mexican citizen freely come and go from the US (as we freely come and go from Mexico)? Or would you still be trusting or hoping for the federal government to appropriately control this economic issue?

You should know well how untrue that is. Name one issue on which GWB is more capitalist or conservative than I.

Your right. To State that those who are against illegal immigration are anti-immigration is nonsense. You're also right that billions of dollars of federal and state bureaucracy has been created to deal with illegal immigration. You're again right that it is extremely anti-capitalist for legal workers to be forced to compete with illegal workers whose employers do not adhere to the laws required for legal employment. These positions are clearly not conservative. Do we agree?

And when the guest workers are supposed to go home and don't, do you think there will be the will to deport them when they turn illegal??????

What a bunch of crap.

Bush has made it VERY clear of his stance: "Family values don't stop at the Rio Grande". 15 million illegal aliens here is a loud and clear dictate of Bush's "stand on immigration".

Bush needs to listen to some Representative Tom Tancredo speeches to tone up before this big speech of his.

Well, if the left really wanted to get Bush, all the MSM outlets could just drive this issue into the heart of the nation.

It's criminal negligence and a failure to uphold his oath to the Constitution.

Impeachable?

But the left wants all the illegals also.

America loses.

I don't see what is conservative about having millions and millions non-english speaking low skilled people in this country illegally to work for slave wages knowing they will sap us dry financially.

Where is Tancredo's bill?

Did I say Tancredo had a bill ?? No

However, Tancredo is the *only* politician I recall saying "that for any guest worker program to be fair, applicants should have to apply from their home countries".

That's how it will be. Bush's illegal alien inaction will cost the Republicans the White House in 08.

We will then get a RAT in that will open the gates even wider!

We must face the reality that neither party is good for America. It is time for the 2nd American Revolution. Our Fathers are calling us.

Delay supports a Tancredo type guestworker plan.

I spent too much time on the planet Jupiter I suppose. Exactly what did I miss here? Are you saying that Tancredo, the only real voice for action against illegal aliens, has thrown in the towel and turned socialist also???

Give me some links and specifics.

Well, if he hasn't submitted a bill for voting, he's only talking -- just like the rest of them.

Bush needs to shut up about illegals, break out his veto pen (has it ever been used?) on non military related spending, take a few RINO senators to the woodshed, and actually get something done on social (in)security reform and making tax cuts permanent.

His presidency is starting to look pretty lame to me in what he's accomplished compared to what he's run on. Don't get me wrong, I thank God every day that John effing Kerry is not president. That being said George W. Bush isn't fit to carry Ronald Reagan's chamberpots.
