WASHINGTON - In a meeting with members of Congress, President Bush said he needs to do a better job explaining his position on immigration changes, House Majority Leader Tom Delay said Wednesday.

"He admitted he hasn't done a very good job in being clear to the American people where he's coming from, and he's going to try to do better," said Delay, who attended the White House session where the president discussed his legislative agenda.

The problem is that we accomodating people who have no interest in accomodating us, the host. They refuse to speak english and demand everything as it was "in their country". F'em all. If they don't want to learn English, send them home and let them go back to sitting in the street doing nothing all day.

What I meant by that was the people coming here. We used to have an idea of who what and where. We should not be the home to anyone and everyone who can break and enter into our country.

I don't trust him any more than I would trust Bill Clinton

I trust him to believe what he says. Whether you or I agree with him....at least you KNOW where he stands.

That is a quantum leap beyond the scumbag X42 who took a poll for everything from the shade of gray he should color his hair to where he should take a vacation.

I understand your position, and it is a good and fair position. I would only say that the economic forces at work are a far different problem from basic border security.

Keeping wages artificially high by not allowing competition is a bubble that will inevitably burst, if not from this cause, then from some other. If the quality of the work is the same or higher, for the same or lesser wage... then the processes that will pop the wage bubble are already in place. Immigration, in such a situation, is a symptom not a cause.

But I'd really like to keep the topic on security.

Another way to look at it a giant criminal cabal, namely the corrupt Mexican Government, is using this country's resources to maintain it's status quo.

So long as the the North can be used as symbol of hope for the impoverished lower classes of Mexico there will never be reform in Mexico. The problems go away if they can make it to the north or receive payments from someone who has.

And so long as the Coyotes and bribe their way through the country, the flood of Central Americans will continue also.

Considering the 19 9/11 hijckers had 64 drivers licenses between them, do you favor allowing illegals to have drivers licenses? YES OR NO?

"This is damage control."

With this Denver-cop-killer Mexican stand-off, I wondered how long it would take the President to say SOMETHING. He has yet to say anything, however. Just that he will say something some day.

I guess they have to figure out how they're going to "sell" this.

Oppose Rewards for Illegal Migration

A majority of respondents (61% of Hispanics and 72% of non-Hispanics) oppose rewarding illegal aliens with driver’s licenses.
El Paso Times/KVIA-ABC 7 poll, May 2005

Florida voters oppose -- by more than a 3-to-1 margin -- rewarding illegal aliens with driver’s licenses.
Research 2000 Florida Poll, March, 2005

Sixty-two percent of Californians polled disapprove of a measure to allow illegal aliens to apply for driver's licenses.

Field Poll, March 2005

57 percent of those polled support a law that would prohibit states from giving drivers licenses or any other official photo ID to illegal aliens
Washington Post-ABC News poll, January, 2005

In the November, 2004 election, 56 percent of Arizona voters approved Proposition 200 to prevent illegal aliens from voting and require state and local government employees who discover a violation of federal immigration law to make a written report to federal immigration authorities. See CNN exit poll information about those who voted in favor of Proposition 200.

Three-quarters (73 percent) of adults agree with the 9/11 Commission that States should require more and better forms of identification before issuing driver’s licenses to prevent terrorists from getting them.
Coalition for a Secure Driver's License, August, 2004

Seventy percent of adults would be less likely to vote for elected officials who make it easier to get licenses.
Coalition for a Secure Driver's License, August, 2004

65 percent of those who voted in the California recall election believe illegal immigrants should not be eligible for services and benefits provided by state and local governments, except for emergency services and 53% would be more likely to vote for a candidate who opposes granting government benefits and services to illegal immigrants. Specifically:

More than 3 out of 5 likely voters in California oppose the bill Gov. Davis signed to grant driver's licenses to illegal aliens. Moreover, 43 percent of likely voters say a candidate's support for driver's licenses for illegal aiens would make them less likely to vote for that person.
Los Angeles Times Poll, October 2003

57 percent of registered voters in Colorado believe that illegal migrants should not receive in-state tuition rates to attend state colleges and universities
Rocky Mountain News Poll, October 2002

From here.

The traitors Moto,

"They just come here to do the jobs Americans will not do"

A small dose of what the Traitors(Pro-Illegal-Alien crowd) have unleashed on our country. Remember folks if the Illegals were not allowed in this country the following would not have happened.

  1. Illegal Alien Murders Denver Policeman in cold blood
  2. Illegal Alien Rapes 8 year old girl in Florida then buries her in county dump
  3. Two Illegal aliens remove the heads of two young girls in Maryland(while the children were alive)
  4. Illegal Alien sniper kills 10 people in the DC/Virginia/MD area
  5. Illegal Alien kills high school girl in Phoenix and escapes to Mexico
  6. the distraught mother of a disabled teenager, one of two girls who were raped on October 24, 2002, by three members of a Salvadoran street gang located in Somerville, Massachusetts. Aged 17 and 14, both victims are deaf and one has cerebral palsy.

So lets all thank the Pro-Illegal traitors for helping to kill Children, Mothers and law enforcement officials.

Thanks for posting that poll. Someone had posted a poll which reflected that Americans were divided on providing free health care, etc., to illegals.

Even if I believe that poll, I have to believe that people in non-border states didn't take seriously the problem caused by illegals in border state hospitals.

By the way.... the 9/11 hijackers were all *legal* immigrants when they came into the U.S. Some of them did overstay their visas and became illegal... but that was later.

Howdy Dane! I just got in from a 14 hour work day. Doing the job the illegals can't do. Sorry I missed out on the fray, snide comments abound tonight.

Here is one just for you: Tancredo is right.

Positions can only be clarified upon when they exist. The President doesn't get a pass on this one when he has left all of us on the right frustrated and confused by his inaction.

Here is the face of the Bush border policy.

"The one lone Republican who will take a proactive stance on the issue is Tom Tancredo">>>>

Do you support his guest worker plan? ('rod)

HELLO !! Read the article....it says even DeLay agrees with Tom "that illegals should return home & apply for any guest worker status. (remember Dane......DeLay agrees with Tancredo)

(snip) "DeLay said immigration changes must be preceded by tougher border security and enforcement of U.S. laws.

DeLay has said people who are in the U.S. illegally should have to return to their native country before applying for a U.S. guest worker program."
