Nope. Anne Bancroft, the actress, is the one who died. I heard it on FOX. Wife of Mel Brooks.

They called the couple the Beauty and the Beast. She was a class act. Was she ill?

Cancer of the uterus. I loved her in "The Slender Thread" with Sidney Poitier.

"Can you imagine how wonderful her life was being married to one of the funniest human beings on the planet?"I've always thought that Gilda and Gene must have had one of the most hysterical marriages ever.

They starred in To Be or Not To Be together.IIRC, she also had a bit part in "Silent Movie," the Mel Brooks classic where the only speaking part was reserved for the French master mime, Marcel Marceau!

I always liked her. Ironic that Encore just had 'night Mother on. Ann and Sissy Spacek.......very good acting but darn depressing movie. RIP Miss Bancroft, I'll miss you.

the emphasis here seems to be on her role as Mrs. Robinson in The Graduate; however, she won the academy award for her role as Helen Keller's teacher in "The Miracle WOrker." A fine actress who managed one of HOllywood's few long-lasting marriages to Mel Brooks.
Here's to you, Mrs. Robinson ... rest in peace.

in spite of being Mrs. Robinson
In *spite* of being Mrs. Robinson? What gives? She was superb in that role, as in many others.
Here's to you, Mrs. Robinson.
R.I.P.
