For the eighth time in just over 9 weeks, DC Chapter FReepers conducted a FReep of Code Pink's anti-war protest at the gate of Walter Reed Army Medical Center, where many of the most severely wounded troops from the war in Iraq and Afghanistan are taken for continued treatment and rehabilitation. The FReep of the leftists' obscene blood dance was on Friday night, June 3.
The honor roll of those in attendance, in spite of the predicted 100 percent chance of rain: kristinn, tgslTakoma, Doctor Raoul, BufordP, sauropod, lurkers Joan and G, and BillF. In contrast to our eight patriots, the leftists peaked at seven America-hating traitors.

We didn't deploy the MOAB (Mother of All Banners) this night, instead relying on signs and American flags. The leftists didn't have their usual one U.S. flag, leading Doctor Raoul to wonder if they had finally gotten it to ignite. As has happened previously, we were honored to have a Walter Reed patient talk with us. The patient, a young Marine who lost a foot in Falujah last September, explained why he was at an Army Medical Center, instead of a Navy hospital. Amputees, even those from the Marines, are often treated at Walter Reed because of Walter Reed's expertise in that area. Other than a rare shout across the street, there was no real interaction with the Pinkos. Although we don't have any signs encouraging cars to honk their horns in the hospital zone, numerous cars did honk their horns to indicate support for us, probably a ratio of 4 or 5 to 1 honks in our favor. Those honking for us included an unmarked police car (not sure what police dept as DC has many), a Metro bus, and a military ambulance. Several of the honks that the Pinkos cheered as support for them were not for them. Motorists zooming by often can't read the leftist signs quickly enough to understand, but they see our U.S. flags and think that the demonstrators on both sides of the intersection are pro-U.S. pro-troops. Some honked as they entered the intersection and before they could read the Pinkos signs. |

Perhaps the drop-off in Pinko numbers is because they are getting frustrated when they realize that, even in the liberal bastion of Washington, DC, they are getting very little support. Or maybe they were afraid that they would melt if the predicted rain materialized.
On other occasions, Jimmy Valentine's brother has announced that "it never rains on the DC Chapter!" Indeed, he has maintained that in the face of heavy rain, which he has characterized as a heavy mist. On this night, JVB couldn't make it, but his rule held true. The weatherman's 100 percent chance of rain forecast missed the mark. The rain had stopped before the FReep started and did not return until after the FReep. A few drops hit my windshield as I drove to an undisclosed location for a victory celebration with other of the FReepers.

Leftists across the intersection from us included Code Pink co-founder and DC leader Gael Murphy with "Up VA Benefits" sign.
DC Chapter co-leader kristinn has confirmed that we shall continue FReeping the Code Pinkos every Friday night until they stop their obscene blood dance outside the hospital of our war-wounded. If you agree with me that it is outrageous for Code Pinkos to demonstrate at a hospital with war-wounded troops inside, please come out and join us in a peaceful counter-protest.
Please don't let the troops think that regular Americans are too busy with TV, ballgames, movies and other recreation to peacefully counter America-hating leftists.
Being there with us in spirit is great, but we need people to hold the MOAB (Mother of all banners), other signs, and flags. Maybe you can't come every week, but please make it your patriotic duty to join us at least once in the near future.
As always, the DC Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect.
Briefly, they are: No violence. No profanity. No racism. No provocations. Obey the law. Treat all law enforcement officers with respect.
Start at 7:30 pm and go to about 10 pm.

Code Pinkos have been setting up on the southwest corner of the Georgia Ave/Elder St intersection. We've been setting up on the northeast corner across the street from Walter Reed's entrance gate.
DC Chapter ping!
Here is a thread that you might be interested in. I'll try to FReepmail you something else in the next day or so.
Thank you and God Bless YOu.
As a Vietnam veteran who received similar treatment, thanks again. joeclarke.net

Bumpage.
BufordP and I talked with another guy who had pulled over in his car upon seeing our demonstration. He wanted to thank us and give us $$ for more signs. We accepted his thank yous, and offered our hearty thanks to him... he got back from Iraq in February after spending a year there, in Samarra. We talked for a bit about his work over there, his condition on arrival back in the states (no injuries, PTL), his opinion about their job over there and how the Iraqi civilians received them. His comments were very positive.
BufordP and I filled him in about Code Pink across the street from us, and we chatted with him for several minutes before exchanging our "thank yous," and heartily shaking his hand; and then he was off into the night.
We had more than a couple cars full of military folks give us whoops of encouragement, thumbs-ups, and horn honks with five-finger hand waves.
We did however, receive our requisite single-digit hand salute from an auto bound comrade of Code Pink about midway through the Freep. They just can't help showing their IQ to everybody.

I'm not sure there trying to show you there IQ. I think there trying to indicate their number of functioning brain cells.
The signs, flags and FReepers look great! It is evident the troops are getting the message by the positive responses you are getting.
Thank you DC FReepers!
Thanks, I'll try to drop by again this coming Friday if I'm still here. What you're doing is important, and it does make a difference.

BUMP! Thanks, BillF and DC Chapter. I'll join you again soon!
good job guys!
Bump! I hope to get my lazy rear in gear one of these weeks and get out there.
Love the signs. Love the pictures. Love you Freepers.
Good report. Did you get a pic of the sign that said something like "troops shouldn't die for a lie"?
Ping!
You guys rock! Good work out there.
No, not even on my other photos.
In the photo of the leftists above, one person is on the ground behind the others. He or she is apparently making a sign, possibly the one you are thinking of.
