"Oil Storm", a fictionalized docudrama, deals with the aftermath of a severe hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico, crippling both oil production and oil importation (15% of our national daily supply if memory serves) and its economic and social consequences for the nation at large.
The government's inability to make up this shortfall, due to political considerations, limited global supplies, and several additional disasters make for riveting viewing, even for those on this forum who believe energy supplies are inexhaustible.
FX is available on satellite t.v. and many cable providers; for those of you who still rely on over the air broadcasting, do yourself a favor and get a friend to record it for you.
It was a poorly written and acted soap opera.
Sounds stupid. The last time a hurricane came through the gulf last summer, a few rigs shut down for a few days. Even if they were all wiped out, we could open up the strategic reserve for a few weeks, while oil goes up to say 80 bucks a barrel. In the end, we would get all the oil we needed because we can afford to pay for it more than others can. Not an end of the world as we know it scenario.
I'm sure we all eagerly awaited with baited breath your production of a better version. [/sarcasam]
About as bad as the last over hyped docudrama, SuperVolcano.
As it turns out, it wasn't an end of the world scenario...but it did cause a lot of grief for a lot of people for about a year.
I'm sure that my brief description hardly did the film justice so I recommend you see it for yourself before making a judgement.
I found it ridiculous. Four tankers save the day???? Give me a break.
Are you suggesting that the only people who are allowed to offer an opinion are ones who have access to enough funding for a film as well as a movie production company? Do you limit your opinions to only though things you can do better personally?
Obviously you either didn't see it or didn't grasp the film's complexities for you to reach the conclusion that only four tankers saved the day.
It was a poorly written and acted soap opera.

Ok, here's my judgement:
Giant crapfest.

I could only watch a few minutes of it, looked like a typical liberal attack on big oil, not worth wasting my time.
You criticized the script and it takes neither vast funding or a production company to write a better version on your word processor.

I try, although admittedly not always successfully ;-)
I saw more than enough of it. Much more.
Food, not oil. Give me a break.
By the way, where did all of those union truckers get their "oil"?
Beneath comment!
The proper adjective is, "Bated," not, "Baited."
Baited breath would be foul indeed!
NO, I did not. The criticism was someone else's. I haven't seen the show, so I did not offer an opinion on it's script or production value.

I appreciate your honesty in admitting you're not always successful. I think when it comes to art (movies, paintings etc), one does not have to be an artist to have an opinion or even a valid opinion of it. In any case, I don't know if the person who was criticizing the show was accurate or not as I haven't seen the show, I just disagreed with the premise that one must be able to make a movie in order to offer an opinion.
