From what I am reading, the answer is yes. And if you have "old" Mac software, you can run that too.

It looks like that might be less than a year away, probably sooner.

How difficult could this be? OS X is just FreeBSD wrapped up in some Applish wrapping and bows. FreeBSD has run on Intel for years, longer than Apple has had it.

When Apple stops manufacturing "the whole widget" in favor of the Microsoft model, I wouldn't go long on Apple, either.

I think they will actually like this. They will see it as kind of like Java. If X-86 folks make the switch to the MAC OS, there might be some more decent video games ported to the OS.

Apple has always had a captive audience, hardware-wise. If they try to ship just an OS they'll be mired in all the same compatibility woes that affect Windows. Bad third party drivers, installation problems, upgrade problems, etc.

Never. The Mac will remain a closed platform, just running Intel CPUs instead of IBM PowerPCs.

You witnessed this firsthand, I take it.

Sound to me like a MAC Tiger OS on a Dell machine could maybe be a big winner.
