(Rasmussen) Hillary Meter: 45% Liberal [26% Definitely Vote For, 41% Definitely Vote Against]
Rasmussen Reports ^ | June 1, 2005

June 1, 2005--If Senator Hillary Clinton runs for President in 2008, just 26% of Americans say they would definitely vote for her. A Rasmussen Reports survey found that 41% would definitely vote against the former First Lady.

Those are the weakest numbers recorded during any of the five Hillary Meter surveys. Two weeks ago, those figures were 30% definitely for and 37% definitely against.

Virtually the entire decline in support for Mrs. Clinton took place among male voters. Our previous survey found that 27% of men planned to definitely vote for her. Only 20% held that view in the current survey.

In states John Kerry won by less than five points in Election 2004, 30% say they would definitely vote for Senator Clinton while 36% would definitely vote against. These six states have 72 Electoral Votes and are essential to any plans for Democrats to recapture the White House.

In the four states that President Bush won by less than five points, 22% of voters will definitely vote for Mrs. Clinton. Forty percent (40%) say they will definitely vote against her. These states have 42 Electoral Votes.

Ideologically, there is no change in perceptions of New York's junior Senator compared to recent surveys. Forty-five percent (45%) continue to believe that she is politically liberal. In January, before Clinton launched an effort to moderate perceptions of her political views, 51% believed that liberal was the right label for the Senator's political views.

Demographic details are available for Premium Members.

Thirty-two percent (32%) of Americans view the former First Lady as a moderate while 8% believe she is politically conservative.

Collectively, today’s Hillary Meter places Senator Clinton a net 54 points to the left of the nation's political center. Two weeks ago, she was 55 points left of center.

The political center is calculated by subtracting the number of liberals from the number of conservatives among the general public (35% conservative, 18% liberal for a net +17). For the Senator, 8% conservative minus 45% liberal equals a net minus 37. The minus 37 reading for Senator Clinton is 54 points away from the plus 17 reading for the general public.

Thirty-eight percent (38%) of Americans have a favorable opinion of Senator Clinton. Forty-five percent (45%) have an unfavorable view. That's down from 42% favorable and 40% unfavorable in our previous survey.

The Hillary Meter is a twice monthly measure of Senator Hillary Clinton's effort to move to the political center. The next update is scheduled for Wednesday, June 15. For as long as the former First Lady is a viable candidate for the White House, Rasmussen Reports will monitor public perceptions of her political ideology.

Separate surveys have perceptions of the former First Lady in Virginia,  Ohio, and Michigan.

Speaking of fired up about her, I live in New York city and work around a bunch of Democrats, and I tell you, not one of them said they voted for her. It`s true, they just don`t like her. So I`m saying to myself, how did she win the Senate race? This should be on the TV show "Historys mysterys".

The Youth vote? In every election the pundits and the defeated liberal media create the myth of the youth vote that will put the Democrats in the White House and control the Congress. Remember 2004 and how many freepers were so scared of the youth vote that will demolish us in the election. Guess what! It did not happen in 2004, like it never happended before 2004, and it will never happen after 2004.

Hillary Clinton cannot win the Presidential election.

And in the future, when the time is right, you will hear and read far more damaging statements said by Hillary Clinton.

You are correct -- keeping in mind that liberalism is a mental disorder.

"I'd love to know how the RATS internal polling compares."

They will do what they always do, conduct their "scientific" polls by pulling their samples from the San Francisco phone book.
