PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: The President and First Lady are spending the weekend at their Crawford ranch. Undoubtedly Barney and Beezie are with them, but no new photos have turned up on Yahoo News Photos. (Sigh.) British Prime Minister Tony Blair will be visiting the President at the White House on Tuesday. The meeting is intended to be preparatory to the G8 Summit to be held in Scotland next month. They are expected to talk about aid to Africa, as well as the status of things in Afghanistan and Iraq.

THE WEEK AHEAD: From White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan's press gaggle yesterday.

Monday, the President will be going to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, to make remarks at the opening of the general assembly for the Organization of American States. Then when he gets back to the White House, he'll make remarks on the South Lawn for Black Music Month. There will be a White House Black Music Month reception.

Tuesday, the President welcomes Prime Minister Blair back to the White House. Following their meeting, they will participate in a joint -- it's an afternoon meeting, they'll participate in a joint press availability. That's scheduled for the East Room at this point. And then they will have dinner after the joint press availability.

Wednesday, the President meets with Prime Minister Erdogan at the White House in the Oval Office, and then he will be making remarks on strengthening Social Security later in the day.

Thursday, GWB travels to Colombus, Ohio, where he will make remarks on the Patriot Act. Congress is considering legislation to reauthorize the Patriot Act right.

Friday, the President will go to McLean, Virginia, where he will tour the National Counterterrorism Center. And then he will meet with President Roh in the Oval Office later that day.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: From the Presidential Radio Address today.

America's economy is on the right track. Over the past two years, we've added more than 3.5 million new jobs. More Americans are working today than ever before. Home ownership is at an all time high. Small businesses are flourishing. Factory output is growing. And families are taking home more of what they earn.

These are hopeful signs for our economy, and we must work hard to sustain that prosperity. When members of Congress return next week, they need to take action on four key priorities for the American people. [The President then discussed each of the four points. President Bush leans in for a whisper from Cecil Ferrell, founder and owner of Ferrell’s Hamburgers in Hopkinsville, Ky., one of the participants in the President's Conversation on Strengthening Social Security, Thursday, June 2, 2005.

Our Dubya, ever the gentleman, shares an umbrella and a laugh at Fort Campbell, Ky., with Freedom Corps greeter Dr. John Cotthoff, an 81-year-old volunteer physician at the St. Luke Free Clinic in nearby Hopkinsville.

President Bush stands with Rep. Christopher Cox (R-CA), his nominee for Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Thursday, June 2, 2005, in the Oval Office. I met Chris Cox at a private fund raiser in Manhattan Beach, CA, some years ago. Although he's not the warmest, fuzziest bird in the nest, he's a tough, no-nonsense guy who should do a good job at SEC. For years, many California Republicans hoped Cox would run for the senate, but he never did. Who knows, maybe he finally will after a stint at SEC.

Because I can't be online much during the work week anymore, I don't know if these appeared earlier in the week. If they have, it sure won't hurt to repeat them. From the White House photo collection, ladies and gentlemen, I give you our cowboy Vice President at the Air Force Academy commencement ceremony, June 1.

Vice President Dick Cheney shakes hands with Andrew Sellers, the first graduate to receive his diploma in the U.S. Air Force Academy Class of 2005. Sellers was deemed the outstanding cadet for academic performance, military performance and in the field of computer science.

Receiving a sharp salute, a delighted VP prepares to shake another of the 906 graduates' hands. (For those who don't know, the Air Force Academy is located in Colorado.)

Catching up with the President's father, who is a very active 80-something.

Hyundai Chairman Mong Koo Chung (L), former President George H.W. Bush and Korean Ambassador to the US Seok Hyun Hong (R) cut the ribbon during the grand opening of the South Korean auto manufacturer Hyundai plant in Montgomery, Alabama, May 20.

Poppy hold the medal presented to him on the 60th anniversary of Victory in World War II, by Russian President Vladimir Putin, left, in the Moscow, May 23, 2005.

I've just been informed via FReemail that Sunday is Jonny's birthday, not today. But that's OK. As I told the emailer, better to celebrate it a day early than not at all. It's the thought that counts, after all.
