"...bombing of the Magic Johnson show."
Oh no, don't shoot the messenger. She was getting payed to play music, not host the show.
Magic is a basketball player, not a talk show host. That was the reason the show swooshed!

The tune doesn't come to mind, but if I heard it I might recognize it.

"Grace Jones greatest hit was Dolph Lundgren."
Was that before she was run over by that boat?
Actually, I had a couple of her albums and enjoyed them.

True, she is a terrific talent and her dad was historic in music. She may one day be as well.

If you have a DVD drive and a short list of videos like these, let me know. I'll send you the MPEGs. Yes on all counts, thanks!
I'll freepmail you my list later this weekend after some thought, but if you have or can find a very obscure video/song called..."Take Me For A Night In New York" by Elbow Bones & the Racketeers, I would be forever indebted!
Great song and great video!

When I worked a bouncer in 1980 to 1983 I heard that song five times a night for three years.
If only "I had a rocket launcher"

The Cult - Fire Woman
Wound up, can't sleep, can't do anything right, little honey,
Oh, since I set my eyes on you.
I tell you the truth.
Twistin' like a flame in a slow dance, baby,
You're driving me crazy.
Come on, little honey, come on now!
Fire! Smoke, she is a rising!
Fire! Smoke on the horizon!
Fire! Smoke, she is a rising!
Fire! Smoke stack lightning!
You shake it up, you're to blame, got me swayin' little honey.
My heart's a ball of burnin' flame.
Oh, yes it is.
Trancing like a cat on a hot tin shack,
Lord, have mercy! Come on little sister, come on and shake it!
Fire! Smoke, she is a rising!
Fire! Smoke on the horizon!
Fire! Smoke, she is a rising!
Fire! Smoke stack lightning!
I was thinking what I've been missing.
I'll tell you truthfully, well.
She's coming close now.
I can feel her.
She's getting close to me.
Fire! Smoke, she is a rising!
Fire! Smoke on the horizon!
Fire! Smoke, she is a rising!
Fire! Smoke stack lightning!
Fire woman you're to blame

Slow, melodic, electronica with sounds of the rain falling. Best played late at night at Gothic nightclubs or driving in Winter.

He was meant to be her prop, but he had ambitions of his own and has done fairly well in mostly B movies.
Now that you mention it, I do remember something about a boat.

The Cult were sensational, but you are now moving up to the late 80's.
"She Sells Sanctuary" is a super song. It really thumps. I played it at many parties I hosted in the 90's and it always got everyone jumping.
To: Red Sea Swimmer
Or driving "through" Gothic nightclubs in the winter!!!

Ive never done that myself, but I'm sure there are a few outdoor Goth parties here and there that may merit a drive-through.
I can just see the black-clad and white faced check-out-chick saying "Do you want Bauhaus with that ?"
P.S. "Bela Lugosi's Dead" was a great track in the Goth genre.
To: dread78645
LOL!!!

The Cult...most under-rated band of all time. Sonic Temple is in my CD player at this very moment.
Saw 'em live opening for Metallica in Houston years and years ago. Evening was going great until the band spotted my date...

Goth did have a permanent effect on current culture among women I guess.
I can't tell you how often I go to places and find the majority of women wearing the standard "BLACK" dress.

Not in my top 500. Just vaguely remember it. The vinyl record just might make a good Frisbee though.
No offense, if you like the track.
Again, taste in music is very subjective, although I'm sure everyone thought that "Day Trip to Bangor" was tripe.
To: Southack
Agreed, I kinda feel the same way about Danzig.
