An 8-year-old boy was mauled to death this afternoon on a Sunset District street by his family's two pit bulls, San Francisco police said.

This happened before to a woman about two years ago.
Firearms: The only cure for Pit Bulls.
Fyi..
And every time someone questions why people keep pit bulls, someone comes along and equates outlawing pit bulls with outlawing firearms. Hello? A gun is an inanimate object that the user can more or less control.
Then we always get people on the thread who have a pit bull, and tell us what "lovely animals they are."
Right.
But these are dogs of peace. or is is pieces? never mind cheddar.
Cute, cuddly killing machines to be bred out of existence
Owners of pit bull terriers and four other breeds of dog will face heavy fines for breeding, selling or giving them away under laws planned by the State Government. All pit bulls, American pit bulls, Japanese tosas, and Argentinian and Brazilian fighting dogs, now restricted to owners aged over 18, will have to be desexed.
"We want to breed these dogs out of existence," the Premier, Bob Carr, said yesterday. "They are killing machines on a leash." ... ...
Amen
"Guns don't kill people; people and pit bulls kill people"
It is like a gun under the control of not very bright 2 year old.
While I feel saddened by the childs death, the parents ought to be jailed on neglect charges.
Charge the parents with two counts of first-degree murder and kill the dogs.
people who own pits are just trying to make up for their own physical shortcomings ie. small pee-pee. All I've ever owned were labs and cockers ie. friendly dogs.
What an awful, needless tragedy. I LOVE dogs. They are special creatures, a gift from God, truly man's best friend; however, I have absolutely no use for a pit bull. They can outlaw them as far as I'm concerned, and I'm certainly not a "big brother government" supporter. At the least, they need to be treated as a deadly, loaded weapon. What would the consequences be for someone allowing their children access to a loaded shotgun, only to have it blow a kid's head off? Or if a pit bull got away from an owner and killed another person, it should be prosecuted as if the owner was randomly firing shots in the air.
Can someone tell me WHY there is a need for pitbulls? I understand protection, but there are many breeds that can provide that protection which aren't timebombs waiting to go off.
Yes, it's a terrible price to pay over a dog.
I still remember a chapter from the novel "White Fang" by Jack London called "The Clinging Death". Anybody who wants to own one of these breeds ought to read it.
I'll stick with my rock fetching mutt. He's kind of a Black Lab and Huskie mix (so the wife says, her and our daughter picked him up). Guess he gets the fetching instict from his Lab side.
He let's me know if anyone is coming down my road without fail. He is a very people friendly dog though.
I don't know why anyone needs a pit bull. Not only is it illegal to fight them but that sport is just cruel. For any other purposes there are better dogs to own.
Charge the parents with two counts of first-degree murder and kill the dogs.
I'm a dog lover, but not of pit bulls. I like your suggestion.
I was going to say the same thing. Bingo.
I agree. Maybe you could get a waiver.
OK, now we're talkin.
