What would Jack Bauer do? - (TV series "24" and the reality of what we are facing)
AUGUSTA FREE PRESS.COM ^ | JUNE 2, 2005 | BRUCE KESLER

Posted on 06/01/2005 9:32:26 PM PDT by CHARLITE

For those of you who’ve missed the first four seasons of Fox TV's "24," each season is 24 episodes following Jack Bauer, hour-by-hour through one day, in his perils-of-Pauline adventures to save the United States from another devastating menace.

Just as I sat through reruns of such reels as a kid during Saturday matinees, I've found myself 50-years later addicted to "24."

Despite all odds, with or without the support of others, Jack Bauer doesn't flinch from the harsh choices and actions, the dangers and self-sacrifices, to successfully finish his mission.

In this season's finale, after saving the U.S. from a nuclear dirty bomb by an Arab fanatic, Bauer has been betrayed by a weakling president to be turned over to the Chinese for having led a sanctioned raid into its consulate to obtain a needed informant in the course of which the Chinese consul was killed by his own guards' gun fire.

Bauer is last seen heading to hide in Mexico under an assumed identity.

So, what shall we look forward to for next season's plot?

Let's speculate.

A member of his raiding team was captured by the Chinese, threatened with being sent to a waiting ship offshore to be taken to China's gulags. The Arab fanatic, before being killed by Bauer, was also escaping to an offshore ship. Were they the same ship? Were China and Arab fanatics plotting together to bring down the U.S.?

Chinese and Arab trade and political missions target and prioritize Latin America and its left-leaning regimes to take common stances against the U.S. Venezuela's Chavez increasingly sounds like Cuba's Fidel-clone.

Is Bauer to discover and thwart a plot in Mexico, perhaps to flood the U.S. with an overwhelming wave of migrants, or recapture the Southwestern U.S., or spread a new, cureless disease?

Absurd? As I was typing this, a friend e-mailed me an article about a Los Angeles radical group called Reconquistas, whose slogans call for reconquest of the Southwest for Mexico, whose members shout "Viva Zarqawi, the Gringo killer," half of whose Web site links are to anti-Semitic sites, another member shouting "too bad Osama bin Laden didn't drop a hydrogen bomb on that Jewish s**thole town Manhattan." It only takes a relatively few terrorists to wreak havoc upon the complex infrastructure of the U.S.

The principal organizer of the Reconquista is a student organization MEChA (The Student Movement of Aztlan Chicanos), whose requirement for membership is the "physical liberation of Occupied America." There's no reason to suspect such is his agenda today, yet it is interesting that the newly elected mayor of Los Angeles, when he was a student at UCLA in 1974, was president of its chapter of MEChA. As we've so often seen, radical seeds planted in the '60s or '70s bear strange fruit in some of today's political leaders' behaviors when faced with a crisis or difficult judgments.

Will the Bauer string of successes be broken by the new, weak-kneed president, demonstrating that without clear-eyed, stubborn, persevering leadership we're that much closer to the edge of survival?

Consider what President Gore would have (not) done after 9/11, or President Kerry to (not) further democratization in the Mideast.

One doesn't need to speculate too much, nor be as dramatic as "24," or be paranoid. Just pick up any day's newspaper and be shocked at the lengths to which America's enemies will go or stoop. Just read the nuanced excuses and obfuscations by the chattering class, their timid rationalizations for accepting or welcoming failure, the self-hatred that blames America first for the evident faults of other countries to meet their basic responsibilities.

Just consider how much focus our dominant media put upon anything less than Marquis of Queensbury deportment in combat by our soldiers in the face of intransigent suicidal nihilists hiding behind a perverted and hypocritical version of Koranic duty, while most of our soldiers' many successes and sacrifices are poo-poohed or ignored.

What would Jack Bauer do? He just does what is expected, by himself and his viewers, of any sane American. He doesn't waver, waffle or weasel. He stands up and forward for America against any foe

Jack Bauer would be brought up on charges of excessive patriotism and love of country in front of the senate by america hating democrats. He would then be tried and convicted by the liberal, america hating media. With the help of McCain and 6 of his backstabbing "mavericks".

Yeah, but before all that, he would have kicked ass, taken names, saved the country, lost the girl, and tortured a few dozen deserved terrorists.

Then, he'd get a pardon, or a second life, and we'd watch it happen all over again with a new plot and a new set of villians.

That's why we watch. That's why it's the best show on television.

WWJBD? Kill Terrorists!

A clinton appointed judge would stop Jack Bauer before he even began!

An author that Rush likes with the last name of "Flynn" has been signed on by "24" to write some of the segments for the next few seasons. Rush says that Flynn's books are really good - but I've never read any of them.

The entire West ( dare I say "the civilized World?" ) is locked in a fight to the death with militant Islam.

There will be no second-place winner, no "third way" solution-- it is March or Die time, folks.

It is Us versus an eighth-century "culture" of plunder & pillage, forced religious "conversions," and the mistreatment of women.

The sooner we face up to this fact realistically and quit dancing around PC talking-point nonsense about diversity and tolerance, the better off we'll all be.

We did not pick this fight- which really has roots in Jimmy Carter's appeasement in 1979 of militants- but we had damned well better see it for what it is, and be prepared to face it and finish it.

I'll put it in raw, personal terms-- I don't want Sharia law visited upon my women, and I don't want a goat-roper "culture" infesting my land.

I don't want their vile, nasty, loathsome weapons of mass destruction loosed upon my fair country, either.

They picked the fight, and now it is up to us to finish it- balls to the wall, hammer and anvil, fire and blood and iron... freedom is never, ever free, and the coin you pay it in is men's lives and tears and blood.

What we saw during Gulf War I was our military doctrine ( high tech ) versus Soviet doctrine ( throw a lot of low tech iron at the problem )-- and we all know how that turned out.

What we saw in the 3-Week War is Information-Tech,
( What some are calling it Hyperwarfare... )
or 21st Century warfare versus 20th Century...

What I would suggest, and call your attention to, is the fact that we, and Israel, are capable of waging 21st Century warfare, and the entire Arab world is not.

Proven fact, by recent events.

One more thing- this will be a war where we are all called to be warriors- so I suggest to you that the time has come to get hard, and stay hard... it really is the time for Fire and Blood and Iron...

No, I am not exaggerating. Click the pic, go to "last," and read backwards.
If you are not informed about this stuff, you will be made sick. If you are informed, you will be made mad, all over again.

While I don't disagree with you in the least, until we're ready to police our own ranks all the patriotic rhetoric is for naught.
