The "I" Word (Barf alert)
Boston Globe ^ | 5/31/05 | Ralph Nader and Kevin Zeese

Posted on 05/31/2005 2:10:45 PM PDT by RedRover

The 'I' word By Ralph Nader and Kevin Zeese | May 31, 2005 THE IMPEACHMENT of President Bush and Vice President Cheney, under Article II, Section 4 of the Constitution, should be part of mainstream political discourse. Minutes from a summer 2002 meeting involving British Prime Minister Tony Blair reveal that the Bush administration was "fixing" the intelligence to justify invading Iraq. [snip: blah, blah, blah...] If [a tedious list of self-righteous and unanswerable] questions is answered affirmatively Bush and Cheney have committed ''high crimes and misdemeanors." It is time for Congress to investigate the illegal Iraq war as we move toward the third year of the endless quagmire that many security experts believe jeopardizes US safety by recruiting and training more terrorists. A Resolution of Impeachment would be a first step. Based on the mountains of fabrications, deceptions, and lies, it is time to debate the ''I" word.

Ralph Nader is a consumer advocate. Kevin Zeese is director of DemocracyRising.US.

Putting a muzzle over Ralph Nader's mouth should be part of the political discourse.

"Ralph Nader is a consumer advocate. Kevin Zeese is director of DemocracyRising.US."

Tomorrow's corrections should read "Ralph Nader is dumber than a bag of hammers and Kevin Zeese is crazier than a rat in a coffee can."

RIGHT ON RALPH! Oh but tell me. How are the Democrap Senators that voted to GIVE Bush the authority to hunt down terrorists where ever they are, saw the SAME intel that he did and 4 years before all squacked that Iraq had WMD to justify Clintons attacks on Iraq, going to escape impeachment as well?

If this can be proven Bush is in big trouble.

"fixing the intelligence"

Is anyone here familiar with British usage of the word "fixing"? Even in the USA, the meaning of "fixing" as "rigging" or "falsifying" is about a fifth-level meaning, and I was wondering what the word conveys in normal British usage. Is it simply equivalent to "preparing" or "assembling," or does it indeed have a connotation of manipulation and distortion?

All this proves, is that if the left runs into Ralph Nader's rear end, he'll burst into flames. He should be recalled!

To partially answer my own question, per Webster, "fix" means:

1. To make firm, stable or stationary,
2. To give a permanent or final form to.
3. To hold or direct steadily. ("fix his eyes on the horizon"
4. To capture the attention of. ("fix with a stare")
5. To set in order; adjust.
6. To get ready; prepare.
7. To influence the outcome by improper or illegal methods.

Notice that Bush's enemies have seized upon MEANING NUMBER 7.

Hmmm. I just happen to have my Pocket Constitution right here with me, and in Article II, Section. 4. I just don't see any evidence of:

"...Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors."

But Good Luck on that Ralph, you sad, tired, tedious old man.

True, and since the Brits are generally more likely to adhere to the original meanings of words than are Americans, "fix the intelligence" most likely means "assemble the available intelligence and put it in order for a final presentation."

"the Bush administration was "fixing" the intelligence"

It's all the usual warm moist heaping load of leftist b.s. The word 'fix' appears in a sentence in which the clear meaning is the case for intervention needs to be amassed and firmed up - what we in the US would call "nailed down" not "made up" - all the UK memo shows is that some in the UK were more anxious about international opinion and wanted to make sure the case was made fully and convincingly, and that every effort was made through the UN for supposed legitimacy. As far as the US is concerned, when CIA Director Tenet told the President the following winter that the case was a "slam dunk" that was a very strong affirmation from the guy who was supposed to be the expert.
