A Late Decision, a Lasting Anguish (Late Abortion)

COLUMN ONE A Late Decision, a Lasting Anguish # A Kansas doctor is under investigation for performing abortions others won't. His clients say outsiders can't grasp their pain or gratitude.

By Stephanie Simon, Times Staff Writer

WICHITA, Kan. — The moment is burned forever in her mind: The small exam room, her husband's ashen face, her sobs as the doctor guided a needle into her womb to kill her son.

It's been 4 1/2 years, and still Marie Becker can feel Daniel kicking inside her, kicking and kicking as she choked back hysteria — kicking until the drug stopped his heart and she felt only stillness.

She prayed Daniel would forgive her.

Tiller's clinic aborted 295 viable fetuses last year and 318 the year before; his website says that he has performed more late-term abortions than anyone else practicing in the Western Hemisphere.

But the clinic is now under criminal investigation for some of those procedures.

I think Plazio was lying about working with Down's adults, or she would have seen the same thing as your daughter.

One year I helped wrap Christmas gifts at a residential home for Down's adult women. Those were the UN-loneliest people imaginable. No one who's that affectionate can possibly be lonely. Plazio was probably embarassed that her sophisticated friends might see she had an "imperfect" child, instead of one speaking fluent Japanese and playing flute by age three.

It really is annoying to need to give all kinds
of privacy invasive info to this rag to read
the article!

With abortion ought come mandatory sterilization ... no use in supporting the serial killing by empowering women to commit it more than once. But that is precisely what liberalism praises, the right to hire a serial killer as often as the woman wants, as an empowerment scheme ... for the father of lies. Satan is so drunk on the blood of innocent children now that he struts about this nation demanding we embrace cannibalism as enlightened medical practice. His servants even write legislation now, to institutionalize the evil!

I think there are a lot of people that will not be convinced. All we can do is create a choice for those who will have it. And eventually a culture that will shun those who won't. How else can we shape cultural behavior?

No need to be exact on the info -- it isn't on the test. Let's see -- oops -- I mixed my work street address with my husbands' work zip code, oh dear, what shall I do -- poor LA Times. (Problem is remembering which numbers I mixed up the next time 'round.)
