Within hours of the Assault Weapon Ban bill A2466 passing the Assembly, Senator Frank Padavan (R-Queens) introduced the bill in the Senate S5504. This bill repeals the existing Assault Weapon definition and replaces it with new definition language. The bill has been referred to Senator Bruno's Rules committee bypassing usual the usual channel of Senator Volker's Codes committee.
Some facts about new Assault Weapon Ban bill A2466/S5504

If you're just coming to this thread to say "New York deserves it, I hope they take your guns", I will ask the admin mods to yank your BS from this thread.
I also ask that this be allowed to stay in Breaking News and on the top of the Activism sidebars...
Thanks for all your help!
Ping and HELP!
OK... so how can non-new yawkers help?
More evidence that those gungrabbing dumbasses clamor for more laws without knowing what is already on the books.
A pistol with 2 grips is classified as an Any Other Weapon under the 1934 National Firearms Act and possession of an unregistered AOW can be punished by up to 10 years in federal prison.
A pistol with a folding stock is a Short Barreled Rifle under the 1934 NFA, unregistered possession also gets you up to 10 years.
These weapons are ALREADY subject to intense background check, registration, and police can demand to see your proof of registration or you face arrest. That proposed law is PROOF that gungrabbers will never stop at just background checks or registration, they push only for outright BANS.
Revolving cylinder shotguns are Destructive Devices under the NFA. You also face 10 years in federal prison and huge fines for unregistered possession.
I guess $200 transfer tax, 2 finger print cards, 2 passport photos, and the signature of your police chief, and 3-12 month background check aren't enough to appease the grabbers.
Molon labe.
Call the NYS Senators listed above, if they ask where you are calling from you can just make something up, say Syracuse, Buffalo, or Albany...
That's okay. A federal judge just ruled that the restrictions of the Bill of Rights don't apply to the states. </disgusted sarcasm>
'smatter with Rochester ?
I hate all these friggin rules
Sounds like he cribbed this wording more or less directly from California.
To those who say California is a lost cause, and they shouldn't bother fighting, this is a clear warning of what can happen if we let the anti-gunners have free reign out there.
OK w/o the brake, need to register it with the brake. I'd be surprised to see this pass, but who knows.
Does anyone know of a pistol with a FIXED 10 rd+ magazine?
The old broomhandle mausers comes to mind.
Errr, I generally hold the grip of my ordinary pistols with both hands, so that's holding them with my non-trigger hand. Does this proposed bill then outlaw all pistols?
this is a pistol grip.
this is another pistol grip
so who knows... just make some calls!!!
I don't understand much about this whole banning of certain 'types' of guns. Why would a revolving cylinder shotgun, (and what the heck is that?), be considered a 'destructive device', (aren't ALL guns?), when a regular shotgun, (which I own), is not? I understand that this is all just one big sneaky movement to take away ALL guns, but how, exactly, are they 'justifying' banning these particular guns? On what basis, in other words?
"Revolving cylinder shotguns are Destructive Devices under the NFA."
Those of us who are familiar with the fight over the Roberti-Roos bill in California wouldn't be the slightest bit surprised if this passed. There's no depth of stupidity too deep for ignorant anti-gun legislators.
I think that some .22 cal revolvers feature 10-shots.
In California, the wording was "conspicuously protruding pistol grip." So folks took to sawing off the grip on the AR-15s to convert them into legal firearms.
I agree, this is stupid gun-grabbing crap that super RINO Pataki will probably sign. Good luck and stay strong!
