WASHINGTON, May 29 - In the last few months, the small commercial air service to the naval base at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, has been carrying people the military authorities had hoped would never be allowed there: American lawyers.
And they have been arriving in increasing numbers, providing more than a third of about 530 remaining detainees with representation in federal court. Despite considerable obstacles and expenses, other lawyers are lining up to challenge the government's detention of people the military has called enemy combatants and possible terrorists.

As Savage says, these red doper diaper babies from NYU will if given the authority destroy America. And they will. How many of you feel that there is nothing that we can do? It's going to take an all out revolution - not necessary by voting, E-Mails, etc. Do you think American citizens are ready for this? I doubt it but count this old fart in.
Does the list include John Edwards?
While they are there, lock them up.
You beat me to it; I was going to make the same suggestion.
What do you call a bunch of lawyers at the bottom of the ocean off of Cuba?
Officially? A tragic "accident"
Scum.
Can someone explain to me how it is that foreigners (even terrorists) are tried in our courts (paid for by taxpayers) and they (the foreigners) get better representation than the average John Q. Citizen?
"They encroach on the battlefield to GIVE AID AND COMFORT TO THE ENEMIES of the United States!"
As does the media...and they all should be tried for treason.
Its time to close Gitmo and just these prisoners back over to the Afghan government. Let them handle the human rights issue. I'm sure the prisoners would be begging to come back to Gitmo and have those terrible Marines mishandle them.
Who is paying for these traitor lawyer?
If you just read the headline this is a great story.
Yes...freefire...you may now lock and load on flight dung101...
The answer is simple.
The article lists the names of some major Law firms that are providing support to the lawyers representing the detainees. We should no longer hire those firms for other work. One of the firms listed provides tax and transaction advise to my company. The senior partner of that firm will recieve a note from me tomorrow morning that terminating their services.
Nick Berg and the law firm of Burka, Fatwa, Imam and Jones.
Self seeking rat bastard lawyers flock to Gitmo to make mischief and make a name for themselves. I'll be a lot of feminazi lawyers too who have the hots for these "noble savages".The judges who ruled to allow this charade should be strung up or thrown in Guantanamo cages like the prisoners they worship.
"People are now eager to take this on," Mr. Ratner said. The law firms are bearing all the expenses, he said. But in recent months, some of the nation's largest and most prominent firms have enlisted in the effort and devoted considerable resources to it, including Wilmer, Cutler, Pickering, Hale & Dorr; Clifford Chance; Covington & Burling; Dorsey & Whitney; and Allen & Overy.
I can't think of a better spot for them.
Where were these ambulance chasing !#$%^&*()_+ when our guys were POW's in Viet Nam, North Korea, WW2?
