Critics want probe of Alexandria Islamic school - (are they indoctrinating in Wahhabism, or not?)

The Islamic Saudi Academy in Alexandria is an outpost of militant Islam, say critics who point out that the school's 1999 valedictorian is charged with joining al Qaeda and plotting to assassinate President Bush. Two other persons connected to the academy also have been linked to terrorism-related cases, and a U.S. senator has asked the Justice Department to investigate the school.

The school was founded in 1984, primarily to serve children of the Saudi diplomatic corps. Today, the student body is more diverse, with nearly three dozen countries represented, but much of the funding still comes from the Saudi government. In recent years, the academy has been at the center of debate over the religious curriculum in Saudi schools and whether it fosters radicalism. Those questions resurfaced when the former valedictorian, Ahmed Omar Abu Ali, was charged in February. He pleaded not guilty and argued that Saudi authorities extracted a false confession from him through torture.

Sen. Charles E. Schumer, New York Democrat, has asked the Justice Department to investigate the school, saying that Abu Ali is not the only former academy student to engage in questionable activities. A federal indictment in Chicago last year named a former treasurer of the school, Ismael Selim Elbarasse, as a high-ranking official within the militant group Hamas, though Mr. Elbarasse is not charged with a crime. Mohamed Osman Idris, an academy graduate, pleaded guilty in 2002 to lying on a passport application, following an investigation into whether he was supporting Hamas. The Justice Department told Mr. Schumer it could not comment on whether the academy itself was under investigation.

Wait a second. Chuck.E.Cheese Schumer is the biggest jerk in the U.S. Senate. But he's also the world's biggest SuperJew on matters related to Israel. Anyone who defends Israel (aside from being my ally) defends the U.S. whether he intends it or not.

These Wahhabist madrassas are schools of raw hatred. If their chiefest critic is Lefty Gungrabber Bushhater Schumer, then I'm afraid that he's not wrong 100% of the time.

The phenomenon of Saudi hate ideology is worldwide, but its occurrence in the United States has received scant attention. This report begins to probe in detail the content of the Wahhabi ideology that the Saudi government has worked to propagate through books and other publications within our borders.3

 

While substantial analysis has been previously published on Saudi Wahhabism in other countries, few specifics have been reported on the content of Wahhabi indoctrination within the United States. 4

 

Part of the reason may be that the vast majority of the written materials are in Arabic. Also, U.S. security investigations have focused on stopping money flows and curbing the activities of individual extremists resulting in, among other actions, the recent expulsions of dozens of religious teachers with Saudi diplomatic passports.5

 

Saudi officials argue that they have changed their textbooks at home, something we have not sought to
confirm. We have ascertained that as of December 2004, Saudi-connected resources and publications on extremist ideology remain common reading and educational material in some of America’s main mosques.

This one started out as something quite different than a maddrassa. It was, and still is, a private school which teaches diplomats kids in the Arabic language.

I know a couple of fellows who went there who are now performing some quite valuable services for our troops in Iraq.

That's why I doubt Chuckie Schumer has it right in this case ~

What is clear to me is that sooner or later (and not much later) people in this country are going to have to take a stand to preserve their way of life or go quietly in the night. Prior to World War II many supported Germany and Nazi political groups in the cities, (Detroit being the worse) wore khaki uniforms, armbands, swastikas and openly gave speeches and passed out written propaganda. I see much of this today in many different groups. They want to subvert the will of the people and impose their own structure. We are the target because we are the richest and most powerful and they would like to use our power and wealth to impose their philosophy on the world.
