Ignoring the ecoterrorist threat

WASHINGTON -- We are all proud of the exceptional men and women who are members of the U.S. Senate. Outside the Beltway and their home states, senators often are treated with a deference that could cause revolution or rioting in some countries.

They usually travel with an entourage of sycophantic staff. And those of the Democrat persuasion would wear Roman togas if they thought these ensured their re-election.

This month, the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works met to quiz and harass John Lewis, the FBI's counterterrorism deputy assistant director.

This committee has them all. Chairman James Inhofe of Oklahoma has to contend with the Vermont party-switcher Jim Jeffords, self-proclaimed tree hugger Frank Lautenberg of New Jersey, probable Republican Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island, Barbara Boxer of California, Joe Lieberman of Connecticut and Hillary Clinton of New York.

Little wonder that Lewis and his colleagues encountered problems in having the committee believe that environmental and animal-welfare militants are now the biggest terrorist threat in the United States. These militants increasingly use explosive and incendiary devices on targets ranging from housing developments and research laboratories to car dealerships.

Sen. Jeffords said "nothing much could be done about individual extremists committing crimes." He continued: "ALF and ELF may threaten dozens of people,...

Must be what John Kerry was describing as a "nuisance". :-P

There is a OUTSIDE chance ecoterrorists may have played a part in the anthrax mailings of 2001.

These people should be tried and executed just as quickly as Timothy McVeigh was if they kill anyone. If they hurt anyone, they should spend a long time in jail. As the article states, most of them are just spoiled rich kids who are angry at life because their pursuit of self has left them empty.

The prime example of the angry, spoiled rich brat is the trust fund punk in the wheelchair who runs the Southwest Center for Biological Diversity in Tucson. This jackass has orchestrated ludricrous lawsuits against legitimate developments, such as Ironwood High School in the northwest area of Tucson. Based on the possibility that all of one - repeat one - individual owl of a protected variety "might" be found in the general vicinity of the proposed high school, he was able to block construction of a badly needed school for nearly 3 years. The result was a more expensive school due to escalating construction costs. The clincher is that the owl's natural range is in Northern Mexico, and occasionally strays across the border, so that only about 20 inhabit the United States, thus that species is "rare" and must be "protected".

Now since this is considered crimes committed with the motive of pure hatred and nothing else, can they be prosecuted under the hate crime legislations so often touted by the US liberals? (Of course they won't allow this to happen: one must not betray his/her fellow travellers ;-))

I would recommend that anyone interested in this issue read anything by Dixie Lee Ray; Trashing The Planet and Environmental Overkill in particular. She proves with hard science and the writings of the enviros themselves that the movement has nothing to do with a clean environment and everything to do with advancing Socialism and destroying property rights.

She originated the term "Killer Watermelons" to describe these people. -- (Watermelons are green on the outside and red on the inside.)

Remember that when the unabomber cabin was searched by the FBI they found Al Gore's Earth In The Balance. It was well worn and underlined -- much like a zealot's scripture.
