Open Letter to Americans: ‘The Ball is in Your Court’ - (ex-CBS, Gannett Vice President speaks out!)
CHRONWATCH.COM ^ | MAY 28, 2005 | LEE ELLIS

Blaring from network and cable TV: “Democrats forced the Senate to put off a final vote this week on John R. Bolton’s nomination to be U.N. ambassador, the latest setback for the tough-talking nominee President Bush has called "strong medicine for corruption and inefficiency at the United Nations.”

This was done by another filibuster that might delay the vote until June, thus shattering the myth that the two parties had joined together in a bond of trust that would end the obstruction that has kept Bush appointees from getting an up and down vote.

When is Bill Frist, the Senate Majority Leader and his fellow conservatives going to learn that the Democrats are no longer the party represented by Zell Miller? Remember that former President Ronald Reagan started off as not only a Democrat but also as the president of a labor union. He became a Republican because he believed his party had moved to the left, away from his personal and business philosophy. If President Reagan were alive today, he would be shocked to see how much more to the left the Democrat party has gone since he left office. He might even think of it as having become the new Socialist Party.

The Democrats are now street-smart and PR savvy. They know how easy it is to con many Republicans who still believe in one’s word of honor. They know how to create polls that will shape public opinion, and how to make a majority of Congress bow to the rule of the minority.

Not only has the Senate minority been able to limit the federal judge appointees to just three out of seven or more, they were even able to deceive Senator John McCain and his fellow moderate Republicans that they would end their use of the filibuster to delay, thus creating a new era of peace and trust.

The future Supreme Court, under President Bush, will have Congress decide whether it will be a Constitutional or a Legislative Court.

If the latter, our nation will become a secular and socialist nation; if the former, we will return to a country and culture envisioned by our founding fathers.

This will also depend on the makeup of our Congress in 2006 and the will of the American people. The anti-American culture and pro-socialist movement set in motion by Antonio Gramsci, the great Italian Socialist in the late 30s’, is now in full swing in America, having been allowed to slowly grow in power and influence over the past decades. Gramsci’s theory was that this would be the only way to take over America—his vision is now coming to fruition.

Our grandchildren will live in the country that we will leave them. And that country will be shaped by the next formation of the Supreme Court, whether it will be constitutional or legislative.

Do Americans have the courage to demand that their members of Congress vote for Constitutional judges, to put America’s interests above political ambition and to end the obstructionist tactics that are not letting our government solve the many problems that threaten our economy and security?

Do Americans also have the will to vote into Congress in 2006 those members who will put our nation’s culture and heritage above the desires of the secularists and socialists?

Only the near future will decide this. We now say to the American voters -in the words of the tennis buffs --- “The ball is now in YOUR court!”

"That's the way it is"

God bless this FORMER (I wonder why ;) ) vice president of cBS. Without a doubt, if DemogRats gain control of this country, the ball will be in THEIR court. With the exception of Bernie, I did not know people like this at cBS existed at all--especially at such a high level.

I disagree with one part of this article. McCain was not deceived. He is manipulating this for his own ambition and ego. He is the President of the McCain party and would sell out either the GOP or the democrats if it advanced his own power IMO.

Under the Senate's current operational paradigm, no one nominated to the U. S. Supreme Court by President Bush will be confirmed. The Socialists, aided by McCain and his fellow RINOs, will easily be able to stall confirmation until January, 2009. Republican senators are functionally incapable of acting as a leading majority when and as it really matters, and President Bush dares not play hardball in the arena of public statements lest the MSM adjunct of the DNC question his commitment to creating a new, cooperative atmosphere in Washington, as though that task were completely his responsibility and not at all a function of the attitudes and behavior of the Socialists in the Congress.

We had the perfect illustration of what this writer is talking about, last Sunday---

When Howard Dean was asked about Bernie Sanders, an avowed socialist, and why he, Dean, would endorse him for the Senate seat of Jeffords, Dean said that socialist and liberal democrat is the SAME THING---that Russert was just talking semantics when he insisted on trying to get Dean to acknowledge that Sanders might not be a good candidate for the DNC Chairman to push for the Senate....

And, don't forget Mrs. Bubba's speech last year in San Francisco, when she told a group of socialite women that, Yes, their money would be used to spread around to others...ala "from the haves, to the have-nots"--socialism, pure and simple...

Honor is important. It's foolish, however, to for a Republican to expect a Democrat to deal honorably with him.

That's why we [Republicans-in-more-than-just-name] need to get out there and win a majority in the United States Senate. Right now we have 55 (roughly 48 excluding RINOs); a majority comprises at least 61 Republicans, including Zell Miller DINOs (or 40 Democrats, united with RINOs). We won big when we got the House in 1994; what charismatic, dedicated, conservative American will help us win the Senate in 2006?

"McCain was not deceived. He is manipulating this for his own ambition and ego."

I agree with your comments - all of them! Lee Ellis is probably such a fine gentleman, that he doesn't perceive how self-absorbed and ambitious John McCain really is; - not to mention vindictive. Some people say that McCain never got over the 2000 primaries, and has been trying to trip up G.W. Bush ever since.

My own personal gripe is that McCain betrayed John O'Neill, Jerry Corsi and the Swift Boat Vets for the Truth. McCain had some choices. He could have remained silent, or he could have helped the Republican party, and our candidate (the President of the United States), by endorsing O'Neill, Corsi, their book........and the thousands of veterans who were supporting the swiftees.

McCain chose to insult them, and I, for one, will not forgive him for that!

I think the more Republicans are embarrassed by their actions the better chance we have for them to step up and do the right thing.

The reason I say this is, times have changed and the new media has become a powerful new force in the political arena. Once upon a time not so long ago, Republicans could get away with these sleazy tactics because the MSM loved it and with minimal outlets for getting the facts out to the masses it would go unnoticed or with little fan fair.

Times have changed, we are all angry but now they know we are angry, every day on radio and the Internet and without pause. These outlets for conservatives allow us to hold politicians accountable and for that reason I expect them to soon try and censure our ability to do so through these outlets.

People like me who had little interest in politics now find it at their finger tips in almost real time through countless debated forums and conservative talk radio stations.

As we all know, even the MSM is feeling the our presence and our strength. They're both becoming afraid of us because we hold the truth in our hands and they know it.

"President Ronald Reagan ... became a Republican because he believed his party had moved to the left, away from his personal and business philosophy. "

That's a Democrat's interpretation looking through a distorted perception of the nature of President Reagan.

I had the privilege of attending a number of dinners at which President Reagan spoke. No man I've ever looked into the eyes of had more love and compassion for his fellow man than President Reagan. (G.W. Bush comes close and modeled his "compassionate conservative" theme after Reagan)

But the Democrats misinterpret compassion for others as requiring that one be hostile to personal achievement and economic prosperity.

See my home page for some of President Reagan's thoughts on compassion.

The Republicans CAN’T SEE THE TREES FOR THE FOREST!!!

The same thing is happening to the Republican Party that has happened to the Democrats!

Zell Miller said, “There are strangers living in my basement…”

The Democratic Party was taken over by the Socialists subversives’ years ago.

Now WE refer to them as RINO Republicans.

They aren’t RINOs they are SOCIALISTS  DAMN IT!!

Their goal is to control BOTH parties!!!

It’s WORKING!

McCain and the Six SOCIALIST MOLES!!!

I remember when Rush interviewed Russert and Russert said he remembered the time when Breshnev went to the UN and told them that all of us would become communist. Russert told Rush that his Dad, while watching this on TV in front of the Tim as a child, bounced in his chair and said "NO, NO, NO, NO!".

I hope Dean keeps saying more stupid things, I really do. Look, I have to give props to BARNEY FRANK for basically saying "Uh-ah" about Dean and his manner. He's literally insane... in some way.

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRGH!!!!!!!

Not according to the MSM---all I see are reporters, journalists, and tv hosts reporting that Republicans are behind McCain and his attempt to "help" get Bush's nominees up or down votes...(barf)

and they keep saying that if Bush was just a little more like Reagan, and would "confer" with the dems about who he should nominate, then all of these problems would go away--all of a sudden, since Reagan's death, one is given a MSM and dem perspective that Reagan was a dem's best friend---
