Parents who stopped a new sex-education curriculum in Montgomery County, Maryland are at the nexus of a national trend in parental activism in school matters. "Montgomery County has become a symbol for parental activism," said Robert Knight, director of the Culture and Family Institute, an affiliate of Concerned Women for America. Warren Throckmorton, a psychology professor at Grove City College in Pennsylvania, said parents "are beginning to take matters into their own hands and are looking for ways to collaborate with other like-minded parents to protect their kids."

It's an uphill battle but the tide just may be beginning to turn.

Well, the teachers have been telling us that they wanted more parental involvement. Perhaps they'll file this under "Be Careful What You Wish For?"

. . . who have found objectionable material in school libraries and are challenging their school boards to remove the books.

I have to admit, whether the subject material is conservative or liberal, I have a tough time warming up to the idea of having books removed from school libraries . . . especially high school libraries.

And none to soon!! This undermining of the parent has been going on for far to long!! They are quick to blame the parents for everything that comes up wrong.

Now the Parents are stasrting to take a stand and where are they- where are the smug little Basxahtds now? The ones that want to undermine the values that we are trying to teach them at home about patriotism, sex and God.

The school boards must be replaced with angry parents and the judges best get their acts together or they wil not have an ass to put on the benches. Throw them off, demand impeachment or demand they step down!

The Black Helos are here Whump,Whump,Whump,Whump,Whump,!!!

I don't mind the 'sex-ed' we got in health class with the little chart of the uterus, eggs, etc... It's the teaching how to put on rubbers and teaching on how homosexuals do it that has gotten out of hand.

sex ed classes just need to be removed from the schools altogether.

Parents should decide what and when to teach their kids about sex.

I totally agree - who decided sexual perversion classes should be part of school curriculum anyway?

bah, I don't even care if it's simply a regular sex-ed class. I'm tired of arguing over what should or shouldn't be taught in these classes. Just remove them altogether and let the parents do their job.

The same goes for evolution, leave it to the parents. Forget teaching creationism, no ones eduction is going to be incomplete because they didn't get a 1 minute synopsis on the theory of the origins of the universe.

Homosexual Agenda + Moral Absolutes - Two-fer.

Sex ed these days includes the promotion of every manner of illicit sex imaginable, and some not imaginable.

Let parents decide, or at least local communities, what kind of sex-ed kids should be taught. Encouraging to hear of communities fighting back.

Let me know if you want on/off either pinglist.
