Democrats made a last-ditch effort on Thursday to stall the nomination of John Bolton as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations while Republicans pressed ahead for a Senate vote on President Bush's contentious nominee.
Just one Republican -- Sen. George Voinovich of Ohio -- openly opposes Bolton.

That doesn't make sense. His record on national security votes is twice as good as most Democrats: 88 out of 100. That is no liberal...
I'd check the list of more than 2000 FBI files hitlary fed into the database, called "WHoDB."
It still exists.
"Anyone have any inside scoop on why this clown Voinovich has it out for Bolton?" Ive heard comments that he is recieving money from Soros. He is my Senator. I have called his office in D. C. like many others though he seems to be deaf. He may be better than Jerry Springer and that's the problem in Ohio, the lesser of two evils. The lesser never seem to be much better.
OK - I give up. Let's trade Bolton for all of the dims in the senate. Let's see how well they can screw things up at the UN too
Kucinich and Voinovich. Two of a kind, and both sons of a bitch. Yea, Cleveland! Don't we make 'em or what?Actually, George did a good job of cleaning up Dennis the Menace's mess as Cleveland's mayor and a decent job as governor (far better than :spit: Celeste or Taft). He's a been a disappointment as a senator, but compared to Metzenbaum....
The Midget Militant is in the perfect position for him. As a representative from the minority party, he can spout off about whatever he wants without actually being responsible for anything. If there's an unindicted politician in US history with a worse administrative record, I'd be suprised.

Bolton has Serbian father and Slovenian mother, according to Wikipedia. You meant Voinovich, right? That's his ancestry.
Professionally, he was a Slovenian coming up in politics. He had to be in the Cleveland area. The local Serbian community is small, and the local Slovenian and Croatian communities are said to be the largest in the world outside the former Yugoslavia. Running as a Serb would have cost him among the Croatians, who occasionally name their sports teams "Ustashe", largely to annoy the Serbs.
Plus, the local Serbs never signed on to the 1970s and 80s era "Captive Nations" movement, while the Croats were affiliated.

Has he visited Neverland?
I asked myself the same question regarding his heritage. I have even emailed several of his aides but they do not respond. A former Ohioan FRer mentioned a corrupt mafia machine getting him into power. Here it is:
This man (Voinovich) is a RINO idiot.
He's also MOBBED-UP. His brother, (the contractor), is mobbed up, and George's first political campaigns were financed with then-Cleveland mob boss Pete Licavoli's and some of his successor Angelo Lonardo's money.
"He's a crook who got where he is today courtesy of the Cosa Nostra.
What was that Brando says about "Senator Corleone...Governor Corleone" in 'The Godfather'"
That's not *sniff sniff* NICE!

Do a FIND voinovich and locate the info on the contracts. He is the Republicans' answer to Nancy "no blink" Pelosi - mafia princess making her bones in congress.
Yes, I meant Voinovich. My mistake.
He's not your "old man", he's your father--or Dad.
Is Sen Voinovich afraid that Bolton will do things that harm Voinovich, Needles and Dalton, the firm for which both his son and his former Chief of staff (Ted Hollingsworth) hold the titles of MGRM?

Here is more on Hollingsworth (Sen Voinovich's former Chief of Staff) who works for a company associated with VND and who seems to be an officer for VND HOLDINGS, LLC
The United States Enrichment Corp., a company that enriches uranium for use in nuclear power plants, has hired the firm Compass Consulting Group to track energy-policy developments in Congress. The lobbyists working the account include Ted Hollingsworth, a former chief of staff to Sen. Under similar contracts, HPA has conducted inspections at such locations as Pearl Harbor Hawaii, Diego Garcia, Okinawa Japan, Guantanamo Bay Cuba..
Also listed among VND's clients is Lockheed-Martin IMS, which has been bought by another firm recently. Here is a story about the way in which Lockheed Martin IMS operated in 2001
TAMPA -- 1/15/03 -- In what could be the story line from a legal thriller, two government workers say they discovered potential fraud by a huge company with a multimillion-dollar job training contract.[Lockheed Martin IMS], hoping to keep the contract, hired an agitator named "Momma Tee" to conduct a smear campaign against the workers. Momma Tee called the workers racists and vowed to "get" them.
Ultimately, one of the workers lost his job, the other committed suicide. ...
The lawsuit is the latest chapter in a 3-year-old controversy over the way a division of Lockheed Martin ran Pinellas County's $15-million welfare-to-work program.[excerpt]
He does have what appears to be a Consev. rating, but I just don't trust ratings. I have abosolutely "0" faith in polls as well. I have known far too many politicos that have looked to be conservative, then in the pinch, up jumps the LIB side of the person.
Thats just my opinion and experience. I've read on one of the threads, by an Ohioan, they said of Voinie, "Once bitten, Twice shy".
