Most already know him as a senator who often goes his own way.

“I will fight for the conservative cause, because I believe in it,” Graham said. “I will break away when I think the country needs me to break away to find a middle ground."

In other words, he'll vote conservative on bills that don't have a lot of publicity but he's willing to sell out his party when the other side screams loud enough.

Underscoring his “90 percent conservative voting record,” he said he disagrees with those who would have him spurn Democrats when the good of the country requires him to work with them.

Honey, I'm 90% faithful to you....

Underscoring his “90 percent conservative voting record,”

Tell your boss that you'll support him 90% and see what he says to you.

In South Carolina, the Seneca Republican is trying to control the damage. “The calls won’t quit, and they’re almost all against Lindsey,” state Republican Party chairman Katon Dawson said.

Excellent.

I'm sure Lindsey expects it'll pretty much blow over by the time re-election season rolls around.

Today Rush said Graham has now said he doesn't think he will vote AGAINST a filibuster of John Bolton.

I posted this elsewhere, on the question of "what happened" to Lindsay:

Q: Am I wrong or what, but wasn't Graham on the right side during the impeachment of x42? Maybe I'm mistaken..... If he was and my memory is correct, what happened to him?

A: What happened to him? He went out on a limb and endorsed McCain for prez in 2000.

At the same time, little ole Lindsey got bit in the butt by the Ambition Bug. Standing next to McCain, he got stars in his eyes. Inside that little brain of his (emphasis on little), he started dreaming that McCain was his ticket to the big-time.

IOW, Graham got the same sickness John Edwards got in 2004.

He sees himself as the young, charming and (in his mind) handsome Senator who becomes VP for a wildly popular President (mistaking MSM boot-licking for populist popularity), which then leads him straight into the WHITE HOUSE as the follow-on prez.

Hey, Lindsey: Pride goes before downfall.

And I am going to do everything I can do to ensure that you fall next time you're up for reelection. Your primary opponent is going to be the most well-funded person in history, if I have anything to say about it.

Lindsey is starting to be just like McCain. If you dare to disagree with him, you're some kind of right wing fanatic and he totally dismisses you. Not at all smart when the average run of the mill republican starts being called a fanatic. They're too dumb to see that this isn't working anymore.

Graham basically became a bureaucratic politician out to save his hide representing himself and not the people who elected him to office. This maturation process usually begins on the 2nd term but Graham started early.

That's all well and good, but when something as important as this is part of the 10%, don't be surprised when the people who put you into office get pissed.

I went to a political event where Graham spoke a couple of years ago. He said the demographics were changing so quickly in his state that one day he would have a very hard time being elected if the Republicans did not appeal more to minorities. He stressed that this was happening in a very conservative state that had elected Strom Thurmond, etc. etc.

At the time I thought he seemed to be exaggerating a little bit. Now I see that he felt early on he had to turn left to be reelected. So much for principled leadership, he was only thinking of what he would have to do to get elected again.

I faxed and wrote his office to remove my name from his list of past contributors for his traitorous actions on the judiciary and Social Security reform.

The evidence is clear folks. He's not really a conservative anymore. He's gotten too fond of the Senate old boys network. Folks, he worked hand in hand with ROBERT BYRD. Nuff said.

Graham sez "my 90% conservative record..." Ummm, what source does that 90% come from?
