Amnesty International is in business to make work and money for Amnesty International and that is all.

"The prominent left-leaning human-rights group Amnesty International called the U.S. detention center at Guantanamo Bay "the gulag of our time""

Have they bothered to check out the REST of the island of Cuba ?!?

Of course not. Their investigators would meet with unfortunate accidents if they tried to visit those countries.

Besides, making up sh!t about the US is brings in the big money from the Europeans and the American Left.

The over-heated analogy lacking basis in fact—one mark of the imprecise mind.

Bull cookies. Show me a "gulag" with three hots and a cot and an ocean view.

The people in the Soviet gulag were imprisoned for political "offenses". Those in Guantanamo are war criminals and terrorists, i.e., wrongdoers, so this is a false equivalency.

Just goes to show you that we need more Guantanamo's just to really piss them off even more.

Q. If you call a dog's tail a "leg", how many legs does a dog have?

A. Four. Just because you call a dog's tail a leg doesn't make it a leg.

Just because you call Gitmo a "gulag" doesn't make it a gulag.

How come the countries that had real "Gulag" issues (former Soviet republics and Warsaw pact countries) are wholeheartedly supporting the US in our foreign policy and in embracing democracy?

I think that we are being mightily bullshat by the left again.

well, yeah - thats pretty much what they do.

a quick google reveals amnesty reports from 2002 condemning saddams regime.

heres a 2001 report on the taliban in afghanistan

amnesty international have always been trying to get the world to listen to them about the treatment of prisoners around the world. if you are ignorant of that, it doesnt mean they didnt do it.

If these guys are released, they will go back to killing civilians and plotting against the United States. That would be a great victory for human rights, wouldn't it? There's a war on, these guys are prisoners of that war, and when the war is over, they'll be released.

Amnesty International complains about the U.S. because the U.S. is the only country where someone might actually take them seriously. Their pronouncements, as they well know, have absolutely no effect in the real tyrannies of the World.
