Bono and Condi Have Lunch
Between gigs in Boston, Bono found time to use his precious day off to have lunch with U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice at the State Department in Washington, D.C. this afternoon. Clad in a smart grey jacket, his famous purple shirt and equally smart grey slacks, Bono made quite a dashing lunch companion.
U2's next gig in Boston is tomorrow on the 26th, with their final North American first leg show to follow on the 28th. The boys head to Europe this summer and will swing back to North America in the fall.

Why?
Why is running for office the only way to be productively involved? Bono is no idiot. He's done his research. He doesn't want countries to just forgive African debt and then throw more money at them. He has real ideas about sustainable employment in developing countries.
Bono is one celebrity I will show the courtesy of listening to.
"the more people know about fashion, the funnier they dress"
That happens, apparently, when one believes one's own press.
"I believe Helms even attended a U2 concert in NC"
He did.

Rush talked about him one day and said he stinks! Never showers! Guess that is a European "thang".
Jessie was a bigger fan of The Alarm and he liked Big Country but I guess when Bono was in town he would let him in the office!
"Guess that is a European "thang"."
Some more than others. The standard response over there is that we Americans are neurotic and bathe excessively... we can't appreciate our own scent. LOL.
Be my guest. And Welcome to FR.

Bono Joins World Leaders at the World Economic Forum to Discuss Africa
DATA co-founder Bono joined world leaders gathering in Davos, Switzerland at the World Economic Forum to address key issues facing the world today.
While there, Bono participated in a panel entitled "The G-8 and Africa--Rhetoric or Action," with former President Bill Clinton, President Thabo Mbeki of South Africa, British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Microsoft founder Bill Gates and Nigerian President Olesegun Obasanjo.
We know why Clinton was there,, for the "action". ;-)
Yeah?
Well, appears to me that she still hasn't found what she's looking for.

..she still hasn't found what she's looking for..
LMAO , Thanks!
Senator Helms attended a U2 show at the MCI Center in DC, the last time U2 was on tour. The thing I respect about Bono, is that he doesn't play to the right or the left. He realizes he can get more done if he doesn't choose sides.
"While there, Bono participated in a panel entitled "The G-8 and Africa--Rhetoric or Action,"
What, no gushing description of his smart shearling-collared black lambskin jacket and equally smart black slacks?
"You dont suppose someone older than 13 wouldn't make personal attacks on someone because they don't like their shirt?"
Happens all the time. Try wearing a "Viva la Reagan Revolucion" red Che-knockoff shirt in any college town and see how many over the age of 13 will make literal personal attacks on you because they don't like your shirt.
I agree.. he tries to do what he says- he just needs to sit down for a couple of hours with Rush Limbaugh and learn hisself a thing or two about the way things oughtta be
"So we should indulge in similar behavior?"
"We" are not. I, individually, think that the gushing fashion critique that always accompanies such figures as Bono completely negates any serious consideration of the political posturing of said figure.
