Bono and Condi Have Lunch
Between gigs in Boston, Bono found time to use his precious day off to have lunch with U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice at the State Department in Washington, D.C. this afternoon. Clad in a smart grey jacket, his famous purple shirt and equally smart grey slacks, Bono made quite a dashing lunch companion.
U2's next gig in Boston is tomorrow on the 26th, with their final North American first leg show to follow on the 28th. The boys head to Europe this summer and will swing back to North America in the fall.

Doesn't hold a candle to Condi's boots, and he knows it.

Bono is actually the real deal not some armchair activist. He spends a lot of his time and money traveling around to get countries to give up some debt relief.

The title should be "Condi Chews Up and Spits Out Bono for Lunch."
And I agree. Who CARES what these celebs have to say, on either side of the isle? You want to run the government? Run for office, you lame-os. I suggest you start with Dog Catcher, then work your way up.

Good PR for Condi?
Bono appears happy and well-mannered. Didn't use camera time to b*tch against the administration or kiss up to the UN? I'm impressed!
To: theDentist
Actually in Bono's case, I'd make an exception to a wish for the Cabinet to ignore entertainers. He's used the leisure rock-stardom afforded to become a policy wonk on African development. A great bleeding-heart cause, but he's taken positions in favor of small-scale capitalism as a necessary part of development. Strom Thurmond was greatly impressed by his positions and support for them and helped shepherd some of Bono's ideas through Congress.
