EU Promises Iran New Offer on Nuclear Dispute
The European Union will offer Iran a detailed proposal by the end of July on how to resolve their differences over Tehran's nuclear program, Iran's chief negotiator Hassan Rohani said on Wednesday.
At the end of three hours of talks in Geneva, Rohani said that he was confident a final deal between the sides could be achieved in a reasonably short time.
"We believe that we could reach a reasonable agreement within a reasonably short time," he said, adding Iranian negotiators would be reporting back to the Tehran government on the EU offer.
In return, Iran gave guarantees in the meeting with the foreign ministers of Britain, France and Germany that it would stick by an accord not to resume sensitive nuclear activities.
"We will remain committed to all our promises," Rohani said. ...

The Iranians just bought more time. Time is running out.
- The Financial Times reports that contrary to the popular images of Mr Rafsanjani as president was far from successful.
- Washington Post reports that European officials who met with Iranian negotiators yesterday to discuss the country's nuclear program went further than the Bush administration had wanted.
- The Scotsman reports that the EU3's diplomatic approach to contain Iran's nuclear ambitions appear to be moving toward turning their carrot into a stick. But they worry, in such a scenario is a big negative: still higher petrol prices at the pump.
- Financial Times reports that the US warned European ministers yesterday to stand firm in negotiations with Iran.
- Reuters reports that the United States and four other nuclear weapons states are making progress on a joint statement that includes language on Iran and the NPT.
- NY Times reports that former Iranian president and candidate Rafsanjani cloaks himself in the trappings of a reformist.

- Iran Press Service reports that the intervention of Iran's leader in favour of two reformist candidates disqualified by the Council of the Guardians proves that elections in Iran are not free.
- And finally, Human Rights Watch said the Iranian judiciary continues to delay investigations into the role of its agents in the death of Canadian-Iranian photojournalist, Zahra Kazemi.

Just killing the time for the mullahs.
Nuke talks wont lead us any where.
EU=UN=Nothing=Somebody ELSE is going to have the guts to deal with the issue before Iran's evil government gets a nuke and decides to use it.
Who can trust promises from Rohani? Apparently, repeating a lie is all a militant, theocratic oligarchy needs to do to pacify the EU. The IAEA is asleep on the job as well. I'm confident they'll continue to ignore the gathering threat to our national security.
If the IAEA didn't catch the mullahs buying Ceramic Matrix Composites on the black market for their nuclear warheads, who did?
Now that we know about them, who's going to shut down the mullah's WMD front companies operating out of Dubai? By the way, the IAEA didn't discover those either.
It's a strange feeling when you come to realize who is protecting who from whom...
You said it better than I, Doc. The "EU3" is simply naive beyond belief.
Second night of student protests continue. It's brewing.....
Good!
Well, they were a little slow, but good to hear

To Whom It May Concern:
We have learned that the Clerical regime in Iran is planning to set up Voting Stations for their upcoming Presidential Elections in different locations throughout the United States. There is currently no diplomatic relations between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran. Officials of the Islamic Republic in New York, at the United Nations and in Washington DC (at Irans Interest Section in the embassy of Pakistan) are prohibited to travel beyond a certain limited area (in New York no more than 12 miles and in Washington not past 25 miles of their offices). According to the Islamic Republics laws any ballot box has to be monitored by an IRI official representative. Therefore it is both against the United States regulations and the Islamic Republic of Irans laws for any such voting stations to be set up throughout the United States.
Four years ago in Los Angeles such voting stations were set up in different hotels where certain IRI representatives had reserved meeting rooms under false pretences. At that time Iranian democratic opposition groups in Los Angeles tracked down those venues and with the help of responsible officials at those locations and the LAPD were able to shut-down all those illegal "voting stations" down.
Now we are contacting you in advance to seek your assistance in stopping this illegal activity once we are notified of their exact locations. That diehard terrorist regime will not stop the spread of its anti-American brand of Islamic Fundamentalism throughout the world. The Islamic Republic has recruited, trained, funded, harbored and provided safe-haven for terrorists and terrorist organizations in the past 26 years and continues to do so today. The United States and the free world must stand united against the theocratic mullahs and their terrorist mercenaries and support the movement of Iranians for the establishment of a democratic, free and secular government.
Sincerely,
Thanks for the heads-up
Catch em and then hang em!
I must say that this is shocking - Canada listing the MEK as a terrorist group. Canada!
United States, please follow suit.
Things are heating up. Lebanon has elections beginning in a few days. Iranian "elections" in about three weeks.
It is my personal belief, that after the June 17th elections, things are going to happen quickly. I'm hoping that the Iranian people boycott the elections en masse (pardon the French :-) ) - and then take it to the next step.
Faster, please.
