Monday while driving I was ranting at ABC hourly radio news with their slanting of the filibuster fight as those mean Republicans trying to take away the rights of the minority, conveniently ignoring the fight was only over the Presidents nominees and that the Pubbies only wanted to return to the Senate tradition in effect for 214 years. Glad to see when a question is asked correctly, the public response is indeed on the side of fairness.

How many people are tired of all these polls that show Americans agreeing with the Democrat side until the Republicans win, and then all of a sudden the polls show that the American people sided with the Republicans all along?

Okay, now we have an alternative to the 'nuclear option', let's call it the 'thermonuclear option': make the demonRATs ACTUALLY FILIBUSTER. Make them talk for hours on C-SPAN so the 69% get really fed up with them preventing the Senate from doing anything. None of this, oh, well, if you say you're going to filibuster let's pretend you are and do other business instead crap. Play it the way the demonRATs played the government shutdowns. Then, once public opinion is really outraged, even the 7 weasles (and probably a handful of vulnerable demonRATs) will vote for the rules change, and in the process the demonRATs will so damage themselves that our majority will increase.

And the fact that Robert "Sheets" Byrd actually voted today to confirm Priscilla Owens tells me that the old b@stard really thinks he's got a tough re-election fight ahead of him next year.

I can't believe that old goat plans to run again. Guess he wants to die shaking his wobbly head and finger at us on the Senate floor. What a drama king!

Not even a link to it from Gallup's website. Clear indication of a NewsMax commission.

NewsMax strikes out again.

The major media DID report this. They just buried it in this article named "Poll: Bush approval mark nears low".

All respondents were also asked whether they would change the filibuster and/or preserve it.

Thirty-five percent sided with changing Senate rules, 19 percent agreed on keeping the filibuster, and 34 percent wanted filibuster rules to remain intact but for nominees to receive a full Senate vote.

Thirty-five percent in favor of changing senate rules + 34% in favor of keeping the rules but voting on the nominees = 69% opposed to Dem filibuster.

A word of advice. Fact check anything you get from News Max.

How bizarre is it that the guy who always sanctimoniously proclaims that he wishes to "preserve the integrity of the U.S. Senate" is the one guy whose very presence does more to harm its integrity than anything else?

I can believe it. Every time I have have explained the situation in politically neutral terms to co-workers of mine, they have decided that use of the filibuster is wrong in this case.

I bet most of the polls that find the opposite explain it as if...well you know...with the the typical MSM "Republicans are practically fascists" spin.

He still hasn't had a 7/11 named after him in WV. Probably sticking around, waiting for it to happen.

If this was commissioned by Newsmax, I give it the same credibility as if it was commissioned by CNN.

I doubt NewsMax has the money to commission a Gallup poll.

Twenty-four hours after the bombshell poll's release, news that 69 percent of Americans want Democrats to stop filibustering Bush's judicial nominees has yet to be reported by a single major U.S. media outlet.

The only poll result related to the judicial nominees that I've heard in the media for the past several weeks is that the majority of Americans didn't want the "nuclear option" to end the filibuster. I never did see or hear just how the poll question was worded. Gotta wonder how many people responding to the poll thought "nuclear option" referred to the use of WMD.
