NEWSCORP Lord Rupert Murdoch can now claim the top spots in the media industry.
The 20th Century Fox, Murdoch, 74, has become 21st Century Daddy.
On Wednesday night the TV season ends with an IDOL bang and FOX finishing #1 -- for the first time -- in the ad demo, 18-49, and #1 in teens.
At the box-office Murdoch takes #1 by distributing REVENGE OF THE SITH.
In the heated cable news race, FOXNEWS [despite faulty Internet rumors] continues to dominate all dayparts, all demos, all ratings, and has all but caught CNN in ad revenues. [Hoping to jump-start its chances against FOXNEWS, NBC is preparing to rename MSNBC to 'NBC NEWS CHANNEL.']
Murdoch's SUN newspaper in London continues to dazzle and ignite the world with shock photos and splashes of Saddam's underwear and Prince Harry's swastika, defying the trend of a fading print genre.
The man from Oz has captured and conquered the popular culture.

He also owns Sky Sattelite TV in the UK, the Star Asian Sattelite Network, A popular German newspaper and a French network.
His power in the UK will ebb away as Freeview Digital TV becomes more and more mainstream (You just pay for the box and not for the channels, there are already about 30 channels for free many of which are very good).
But yes this guy is mega powerful. I read a biography on him and one on Maxwell at the same time. Murdoch is a great businessman and Maxwell was a great hoodwinker.
Interestingly he was a Socialist at Univeristy but soon changed his mind. He apparently has a big dislike for the old British order of things (monarchy and knighthoods etc) and would like to see it ended or so the bio led me to believe. If that is the case then he can go jump.

-There's only one media icon I know who is smarter than Murdoch and that is my friend from Yale. She and I ran the Media Student Group at Yale's School of Management from 1995-1997. After we graduated she went back to China where she was from, worked an invite to Murdoch's yacht party in Hong Kong Harbor, pushed to the front of the line and dethroned Mrs. Rupert Murdoch.
Now, she is Mrs. Rupert Murdoch. Ethics aside, she certainly knew how to get what she wanted. Here's to Wendi Deng. God love her.

Wild story isn't it? Wendi and I went to hear Warren Buffet speak on Yale's campus in the spring of 1997. We sat together. After the presentation and Q&A, some students went down to the well of the lecture hall to get Mr. Murdoch to sign books and such. Wendi wanted to go and meet him and asked me to go with her.
So, the two of us went down front. We stood there long enough to meet and hear Mr. Buffet. I can tell you I made a mental note that Wendi seemed very impressed with Mr. Buffet. I didn't think anything more about it until the news of the impending nuptuals came out a year or two later. At that point, the memory of meeting Mr. Buffet came back to me.
From my personal experience, Wendi Deng is a wonderful and charming individual. She has worked hard her whole life. She came out of mainland China, learned English and western culture, got her credentials and worked hard to land a job at Star Media in Hong Kong. God bless her.
She was my friend and we had fun. She was always a heck of a lot of fun to be around. She is pretty and smart as a whip. I tried to call her once but a mutual friend, also from China, told me that she didn't have time for essentially "the likes of me" anymore. I never heard that from Wendi so I don't believe its true.
I will say that there is enough in these two posts for Wendi to know exactly who I am and if she or one of her friends does lurk here, on a friendship basis I would love to hear from her after all these years. She's a great gal and a good friend and we shared a lot of laughs, dreams and aspirations. Knowing Wendi, she hasn't changed a bit.
I'll give him this, Murdoch married a smart, pretty and accomplished young lady.
I would like to see him make a Fox News Canada with Canadian news. I enjoyed getting international news from Fox News.
Murdoch got there the old fashioned way - he earned it.
Johnny I think Rupert lurk on internet forums if he know about Freepers OH YEAH from his Fox news employees there been talk that Sean Hannity and others lurk on FR been talk
