Wild story isn't it? Wendi and I went to hear Warren Buffet speak on Yale's campus in the spring of 1997. We sat together. After the presentation and Q&A, some students went down to the well of the lecture hall to get Mr. Murdoch to sign books and such. Wendi wanted to go and meet him and asked me to go with her.

So, the two of us went down front. We stood there long enough to meet and hear Mr. Buffet. I can tell you I made a mental note that Wendi seemed very impressed with Mr. Buffet. I didn't think anything more about it until the news of the impending nuptuals came out a year or two later. At that point, the memory of meeting Mr. Buffet came back to me.

From my personal experience, Wendi Deng is a wonderful and charming individual. She has worked hard her whole life. She came out of mainland China, learned English and western culture, got her credentials and worked hard to land a job at Star Media in Hong Kong. God bless her.

She was my friend and we had fun. She was always a heck of a lot of fun to be around. She is pretty and smart as a whip. I tried to call her once but a mutual friend, also from China, told me that she didn't have time for essentially "the likes of me" anymore. I never heard that from Wendi so I don't believe its true.

I will say that there is enough in these two posts for Wendi to know exactly who I am and if she or one of her friends does lurk here, on a friendship basis I would love to hear from her after all these years. She's a great gal and a good friend and we shared a lot of laughs, dreams and aspirations. Knowing Wendi, she hasn't changed a bit.

I'll give him this, Murdoch married a smart, pretty and accomplished young lady.
