Top talk radio host Rush Limbaugh called on DNC chief Howard Dean to release his medical records yesterday, after Dean said he was standing by his false allegation that Limbaugh was a cocaine addict.
"It might be helpful if we could see his medical records," the radio host told his audience. "It might be helpful if we could get Dean's medical records and plaster them all over CNN because we won't really know the truth about anything until we get these medical records."
Citing an interview last year where Dean admitted he had a drinking problem during his college days, Limbaugh said, "The reason I think it's important to see Dean's medical records is we need to know how many brain cells he lost during his drinking binge period."
Limbaugh also questioned Dean's ethics as a medical doctor.
"What kind of a doctor must Howard Dean have been to lie about somebody's medical condition and confirm the lie and then say, 'Well, you know, Limbaugh, he makes fun of people all over the place, but we all need to protect our ethical standards.'"
In October 2003, the top talker admitted he was addicted to prescription pain killers as a result of a longstanding back problem. But even his harshest critics have never accused Limbaugh of using cocaine.
According to a report last month, in a speech to Minnesota Democrats, "[Dean] did draw howls of laughter by mimicking a drug-snorting Rush Limbaugh."
Appearing on "Meet the Press" Sunday with Tim Russert, the top Democrat defended his decision to falsely imply that the radio host used cocaine.
"The problem is not that these folks have problems. They do, and they have problems in the case of a drug addiction," said Dean. "The problem is it is galling to Democrats, 48 percent of us who did not support the president, it is galling to be lectured to about moral values by folks who have their own problems."
Dean also told Russert that he is a "committed Christian" - which apparently means he as no problems with personal morals.
oh, but my governor who is a "devout catholic" rallied like crazy to make sure abortions were kept legal. so it must be ok.
i guess that's the kind of logic i should expect from a canadian socialist.
FYI: i'm referring to Gov Granholm (D-MI)
On a serioius note, this has been my question. What seperated the saved from the damned when the saved are as wretched if not more so than the damned? I mean, all I have to do and confess my faith, and I can do anything? I have so much trouble with witnessing because so many people say "we I believe, I'm saved and now I can do the things I used to do without eterneal destination worries." And I've had ministers nodding in agreement. No wonder finding the truly faithful is so difficult?
Once you are "saved" you have a free ticket to do anything at all.
Liberals have never been any good with irony.
the way it is put here I would say that a "Christian" is one who identifies with the Christian community socially but doesn't pay much attention to doctrine and such, a CINO.
Oh please.
"You miss the irony here.
Liberals have never been any good with irony."
I think Rush misses it also - He's in a tough spot and he still dosen't seem to want to acknowledge it. HIS actions are the cause of this.
Nah...too much danger of getting Creutzfeldt-Jakob
Disease (CJD)aka Mad Cow.
I thought you could be forgiven for past sins but you're not supposed to repeat them!
Here's the irony of it. Even if he is guilty as sin of all that has been inferred and implied, Rush has pretty much bullet proofed himself. Unless there is something much more serious from a criminal nature, he won't do any time and will likely get a slap on the wrist at worst. But he and the likely large sums of money spent on a his spin machine have pretty much effectively muted the damage. Had this been Al Franken or any other liberal commentator, this would have been fodder for Rush, Sean and the other conservative hosts. As it is, even during it's height, the left pretty much left this alone. And Rush has effectively demonized the Palm Beach prosecutor, again with the help of some very heavy Hollywood PR folks. Among his fans, anything that happens, unless some unknown or very serious charge comes out of this, simply raises Rush's esteem among his loyalists as the left is out to get him. He's well positioned himself for this.
Remember, as he admitted on the air a few falls ago his addiction problem, it seemed such a from the heart dialog he was having with his listeners. Yet as he was discussing this from the heart, the transcript appeared on the PR newswire. There were some "ers" and "ahs" not in the transcript, and a wee tad of ad libbing, but there it was, as it was being spoken, the transcript of his heart to heart with his listeners.
I'm not haranging you on this. I struggle with this all the time.
I saw someone coined an acronynm. CINO, Christian in Name Only.
As the head of the entertainment division of Sitrick and Co., a leading crisis-management public relations firm, Allan Mayer is an expert spinmeister on showbiz scandal and disaster. He's helped Rush Limbaugh deal with the fallout from revelations that he was addicted to painkillers allegedly obtained from his maid.
I hear ya, I think there are a bazillion versions of "Christianity" out there.
"Unless there is something much more serious from a criminal nature, he won't do any time and will likely get a slap on the wrist at worst. "
"And Rush has effectively demonized the Palm Beach prosecutor, ..."
Since the Palm Beach Prosecutor is the one who decides if he gets a slap on the wrist or goes up on multiple felony charges, just what was Rush's strategery here ?
So, ol' Ho-Weird Dean is gonna take over for Al Franken-stein on Scare America when the latter takes his shot at Norm Coleman next year in Minne-so-ta? I doubt the listeners would even notice a difference!
While there may be varoius degrees of legal standing for what the PBC prosecutor can do and will do, Rush has virtually pigeon holed the PBC prosecutor. Almost any move by the prosecution team could backfire on them. The whole time, Rush will be using any move as judicial and prosecutorial abuse. It may be. But, it also could simply be the law. Frankly, the PBC prosecutor is in the same situation a married man is. Even when a man wins an argument in a marriage, he loses. Same situation with the PBC prosecutor.
Frankly. if I was the PBC prosecutor, I would be trying to work a plea deal. And part of the deal would be an on air apology from Rush stating that he has manipulated the proseuctors ability to bring forward a case under lawful conditions (if such is the case), that it was wrong to hold court in the court of public opinion rather than a court of law and that what he has done is what he has condemend others for during the many years of his show.
So you think it's Dean's intellectual honesty that is driving him to fling a ration of crap at Rush? You think Dean believes he's destroying the right by being obnoxious about Rush, calling him a druggy, pointing out the skeletons in Rush's closet?
I don't believe that Dean is motivated because of Rush's political influence, at all. His comments seem very personal and meant to keep Rush distracted, and meant to prove that he, Dean--can play with the biggest of the boys (Rush), and win.
As far as having liberal friends, nobody is perfect. James Carville's influence on Rush does not worry me as much as the influence the freaks from the R/R seem to have with him. Carville is probably less dangerous.
Argh.
ps: You kind of missed my original point, but that is my fault for assuming readers would see the invisible /off tag.
The point was, that if Rush is NOT influential, as the Left likes to remind us--why is head lefty, wasting his time worrying about some guy who is only a talk show entertainer? They gladly devote hours to minimilizing his influence, clucking about how Rush is irrelevant, and their comments aren't personal.
Rush is relevant, or they wouldn't devote their time to him (which was the original point).
hth.
"By their varioius legal battels and PR moves, they have pushed this out so as to have the public basically forget it ever happened. It will be, what two years in the Fall that he admitted his additition problem?"
Yep - He kept the investigation slowed - what do you think will happen when the investigation is completed and he is charged and arrested ?
After all this dirt he has thrown on the Law, the judges, and the prosecutors, do you think they will be in the mood to hand him a sweetheart deal ?
Just because they are out to get him it dosen't mean he's not guilty.
"I just hope Dean keeps up his hysterical rantings, because this is a true gift for the GOP."
When you add in the rantings of my senator, Harry Reid, the bottle fed hallucinations of Theodore Kennedy, the shaking pontifications of Kleagle Byrd, mixed with the beauty and wit of Boxer and Pelosi, ya got yourself manna from heaven.
