Republican South Carolina Senator Lindsay Graham, in a just-concluded interview with Judy Woodruff of CNN's Inside Politics, somehow managed to compare his support of the filibuster deal with the bravery of our soldiers dying in Iraq.
He said: "Over in Iraq, we have soldiers dying and others being wounded, and all of them are subject to being shot at. They didn't have to volunteer to join the military. And I didn't have to change my vote to support this filibuster plan. But I did it for the good of the country."
Yes, he said it!

As to the volunteering issue, he was making the point that our soldiers didn't have to join the military, that they had volunteered, and then went on to say that in the same way, he didn't have to change his vote on the filibuster, but did so for the good of the country.
I didn't have to sign up at FR, but I did, for the good of the country.
Caving in requires no courage. This is insulting to the troops.
Lindsey Graham's political career is finished. I will personally work to unseat him. I called the South Carolina GOP this morning to let them know that they had better come up with somebody to challenge this assclown or I will vote Democrat in the next General Election.
Well, with the exception of McCain and sKerry, that is.

Graham just wants to be loved by Chris Matthews and the rest of the Lib media. We need the courts back! Planned Parenthood and the ACLU must be loving life. How many more abortions will take place now due to Graham's idiocy.
Oh, but one of the seven will get the award next year. Any of them up for reelection? It will be the one that loses in a primary.

Graham: Hmmmm. Can you shorten that up a little?'
Speechwriter: 'Got'cha! How about, ''I did it for my country!'
Graham: 'That'll work!'
Graham logged six-and-a-half years of service on active duty as an Air Force lawyer.
From 1984-1988, he was assigned overseas and served at Rhein Mein Air Force Base in Germany. Upon leaving the active duty Air Force in 1989, Graham joined the South Carolina Air National Guard where he served until his election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1994.
During the first Gulf War, Graham was called to active duty and served state-side at McEntire Air National Guard Base as Staff Judge Advocate where he prepared members for deployment to the Gulf region. His duties included briefing pilots on the law of armed conflict, preparing legal documents for deploying troops, and providing legal services for family members of the South Carolina Air National Guard. He received a commendation medal for his service at McEntire.
Since 1995, Graham has continued to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force Reserves and is the only U.S. Senator currently serving in the Guard or Reserves. He is a colonel and is assigned as a Reserve Judge to the Air Force Court of Criminal Appeals.
