Before we explode in disgust about the RINO defectors, please consider this: IF the nominated judges get an up or down vote, we win. If a nominated judge gets blocked by filibuster again, we can still "pull the trigger" on the constitutional option...this time with "betrayed and outraged moderates" leading the way. As much as I want to just respond to this emotionally, I am trying to show patience to see how this pans out over the next month. I also am looking forward to seeing how the DUmmies seeth as judges are nominated. So, please, "hold your powder" but keep your eye on the target.
The way that I understood it a few days ago, was that the Rats are going to filibuster the guy whose FBI file Reid mentioned, to prove that they are really justified in using the filibuster, then hold off on using it again, until the Supreme Court nominees come up.
Wait...
The Dems agree not to filbuster UNLESS...
The RINOs "in light of the spirit" commit not to change the rules PERIOD.
Actually, the RINOs are depending on violations of the "spirit" to get out of their written commitment, while the DEMs have written in their loophole and its liberal definition.
But time will tell how it plays out.
Im with you, thats it for me. Hold my powder? I cant even hold my breakfast down. How do I know this sell-out is so bad? The MSM loves it. The left-wingers love it. Theyre happy while conservative Republicans gnash their teeth. Frist ceded his power to the attention whore McCain. Between this and immigration, Im sorry, but as Ronald Reagan said, ``I didn't leave my party; my party left me.'' As with you, its up to them to win me back. I will always be a conservative first.
Lindsay Graham is on Mike Gallagher show.
He said he guarantees that 8 judges will get up or down votes by the end of next week.
Lindsay Graham claims that they weren't sure they had the votes for the Constitutional Option. He said there were 5 hard NO's in the GOP against changing the rules, and there were others on the fence.
He didn't want to see GOP fail in trying to change the rules. He said it would have been a blow to the President.
He guarantees 8 judges will get up or down votes by the end of next week.
No, they don't. Check out the wailing and lamentation going on over at DU.
The more time that passes, the better this deal will look for our side.
This is yet another example of the wisdom of the old expression - "don't listen to what they say, watch what they do." Another version of which is "who are you going to believe - me, or your own lying eyes?"
I am no longer willing to waste my time by listening to party hacks attempt to spin the latest outrage, packaging it to make it palatable to people whose previous support in the form of votes and contributions have been betrayed, and whose protestations over this betrayal are then mocked.
Frist is not an improvement over Lott. He is more of the same, although somewhat more effeminate. The GOP leadership are people who are not ideologically motivated. They are motivated by the quest for political power and, once obtained, the quest to keep it.
Our purpose in this quest, to these people, is to serve as useful idiots. I, for one, am tired of this. It will never get any better. Enough. Find someone else to use. I now realize that I'm on my own, that I have always been on my own, and that I always will be. And that's OK - I'll be fine.
The GOP can go elsewhere for assistance - I won't be returning any further calls.
No, have you? Unless you have, then your opinion about what goes on there is no more valid than anyone else's.
Posted like a true moderate.
They're coming out of the woodwork here lately.
Why are you assuming there are 51 votes to confirm those nominees?
McCain is a weird guy, for sure. But if we lose him aren't the Dems likely to take the seat? Would we be better off in the minority. Because if we wack all the RINOS we are unlikley to hold all those seats, many will end up with Donkeys sitting in them. We need to be smart about who we target. It may be that McCain is such an irritant that he needs to be retired. I suspect he's going to run as an indy prez candidate next time, which may end his nominal Republican affiliation, he might end up like a R. version of Jeffords.
The 7 TRAITORS,
The 7 FROM HELL?,
The 7 SATANS? - LOL.
Playing off of what someone else posted I suggest:
The 7 DWARF RINOS
The perfect name will come up all of the sudden, and we'll know it will be the perfect one! - This "term" will be important, because we'll refer to these ,7 WEASELS, for years to come :)
Spoken like an old pro. Yep, that's it. And some real smart tacticians need to decide which of the 7 Dwarf RINOs, if any, should face primary challenges. The last high profile RINO that Club for Growth took on was Arlen. He isn't one of the 7 Dwarf RINOs, is he acting better because of Toomey? Probably not .. six years is a long term.
"THE MALEFICENT SEVEN"
my energy will be focused on defeating McCain in '08 and underming Dewine and Graham unless they get back on board. Frist gets credit from me to getting this to the point of votes on Brown, Owen and Pyror.
The only problem with that name is that evokes the "magnificent," and these 7 nitwits, weasels, dorks, spineless, are anything but that. Rush calls them nitwits... I still like weasels better.. we'll see :)
