The caveat emperor

By Joan Vennochi, Globe Columnist

May 24, 2005

During an interview yesterday with Globe editorial writers and columnists, the former Democratic presidential nominee was asked if had signed Form SF 180, authorizing the Department of Defense to grant access to all his military records.

''I have signed it," Kerry said. Then, he added that his staff was ''still going through it" and ''very, very shortly, you will have a chance to see it." ........

After the interview, Kerry's communications director, David Wade, was asked to clarify when Kerry signed SF 180 and when public access would be granted. Kerry drifted over to join the conversation, immediately raising the confusion level. He did not answer the question of when he signed the form or when the entire record will be made public.

Several e-mails later, Wade conveyed the following information: On Friday, May 20, Kerry obtained a copy of Form 180 and signed it. ''The next step is to send it to the Navy, which will happen in the next few days. The Navy will then send out the records," e-mailed Wade......

John Kerry was dishonorably dismissed from the Navy:

Holy cow, Tonk! How did I miss this? That was a rhetorical question. I've been remiss recently. Got totally wrapped up in the Andyscam lately around here and missed alot of pings.

What makes me laugh about this is that I sent a link to the form online at DoD to his office and his email address at the Senate last Thursday!

haha

Whoever in the US Senate that gave Hanoi Kerry a Top Secret Clearance HAS seen all his military records

A little sompin' to watch out for:

When Bill Clinton was struggling with his past,
his people tried to float the idea that he was working undercover
in the Soviet Union and in the Eastern Bloc.

Kerry has enough resources to adopt this essentially ludicrous PR ploy for himself and more than enough cash to give it legs in the farther-left reaches of a sympathetic press. At one point, Clinton was even claiming he was "undercover" at Oxford. This of course was immediately pooh-poohed by the people who were there with him, one of whom WAS undercover!

As far as the Senate vetting anyone for clearance, I would have to think that they are less harsh on an elected Senator than they would be on an employee of an intelligence committee.

The real security danger lives in Congressional staffs, inordinate numbers of whom are as gay as Christmas in Jamaica and very loony-left. Sadly, that goes for both parties.

My most liberal senator will never really sign a SF 180.

Still, you gotta love the irony of the form that confounds Senator 180 himself is actually called by that number.

Oh, and Joan Venochi is a joke, her columns never make sense to me, and I have rarely ever finished one in it's entirety.

'I expect to see Kerry's signed 180 about the same time MA allows me to vote against gay-marriage... or get a tax-cut... or see an end to tolls...'

OR
see the death penalty re-enacted - didn't the state vote on a referendum several years ago where 78% voted to restore it?? But the legislature ignored the wishes of the people because "the voters are stupid".

'in a recent street poll taken by NPR in Fall River, MA, an overwhelming majority of the voters could not spell "Chappaquiddick," even when asked in Spanish.'

maybe because they only read Portugese!!!

LOL, you just keep up the good work with the KKKTFUBARF
organization - with your help, we will be able to get more updates from the 'Prince' and the 'lady?'....

(note to Joan Vennochi, Globe Columnist ...change your next question to sKerry to :

"When will you SUBMIT the 180, Senator?" )

Talk radio in Boston was ALL OVER THIS story today and Kerry was the laughingstock of the day. As Howie Carr says, "when even the GLOBE starts ridiculing you...."

Still gotta give a plug to Jim Vicevich's show, mornings 10-12 in CT/NY/WMass/CentralMA areas - he's a atrong military supporter and abrilliant guy. One of our FReepers is also a frequent caller....

Asked about the impact of religion, he said that he reread the New Testament since the election to make sure ''I didn't miss anything" and recalled that on the campaign trail ''I gave a very strong speech about values and how you measure these things."

Its easy to miss that stuff in the New testament about Jesus and all that....

Later, Kerry said, ''Let me be crystal clear. We do not have to reformulate or redefine the Democratic Party. I'm tired of hearing that the Democratic Party doesn't stand for anything."

Sure it stands a great many things. Higher taxes, killing unborn human beings, Telling me where I can live, what kind of job I can have, what I can eat, taking away privately owned guns,.... So I agree with the senator from Mass., and I don't want to hear anymore talk about them not standing for anything!

So what needs to be asked of Kerry each time from now on is, "Have you SUBMITTED the signed 180?"

Better yet...

Did you authorize anyone unrestricted public access to your military records?

"He signed it before he didn't sign it."

He must have one of those mega-waffle irons: the kind that cooks up 20 waffles at a time.
