Rats Claim Two More Nominees to be Torpedoed in Filibuster Deal
Monday, May 23, 2005 | Kristinn

In Tuesday's edition of The New York Times, unnamed Democrats claim that two more of President Bush's nominees will be torpedoed as part of an unwritten codicile to the announced bipartisan agreement by 14 senators on filibustered judicial nominees.

The written agreement singled out the nominations of Myers and Saad as not being guaranteed an up or down vote on the Senate floor.

From The New York Times comes this signal of further betrayal: "Democratic officials said an unwritten aspect of the pact is that two nominees not named in the deal - Brett Kavanaugh and William J. Haynes - would not be confirmed and would be turned aside either at the committee level or on the floor."

what they need to do is recess every single C/A vacancy right NOW with a staunch conservative. Relatively few cases are appealed to the Sup Ct. just start pumping out the opinions. it would drive the left NUTS.

--"IIRC the Senate was devised so that the differently populated states of the US would have an equal voice with respect to legislation."--

I have no objection to the Senate - I object to their clubby atmosphere and distortion of normal rules of order that allow them to ignore the business of the Country in favor of keeping their atmospherics.

Every one of them thinks he ought to be president, and not one of them is qualified by anything except an enormously inflated ego.

We would be far better off with a constitutional amendment barring senators from the presidency except by succession for 6 years, while their head shrinks back to the size of a blimp, like other politicians.

I know you think you are making a point, and I guess you are, but is not a wise one. Apparently, you don't like what the Democrats stand for or, as a former lib, you would not have switched to Republican. Now a few, and I stress a few, Republicans disappoint you and you are going to a party that disappoints you altogether. You justify it by saying, well at least I know that they stand for things I disagree with so I won't be disappointed. With thinking like that perhaps you will be happier as a Democrat. Good luck to you.

Once he realizes that we want nothing to do with his sorry ass, he will try and undermine our party again by going third party. Then...Hitlery to the "rescue"!

Only if stupid Republicans and Independents vote for him. He sure won't get any Democrat votes.

Plenty of times. Usually wives and four year olds. :-)
