Dr. James Dobson Blasts Filibuster 'Betrayal'
U.S. Newswire ^ | 5/23/05 | Dr. James Dobson

Posted on 05/23/2005 8:34:29 PM PDT by Crackingham

"This Senate agreement represents a complete bailout and betrayal by a cabal of Republicans and a great victory for united Democrats. Only three of President Bush’s nominees will be given the courtesy of an up-or-down vote, and it's business as usual for all the rest. The rules that blocked conservative nominees remain in effect, and nothing of significance has changed. Justice Clarence Thomas, Justice Antonin Scalia, and Chief Justice William Rehnquist would never have served on the U. S. Supreme Court if this agreement had been in place during their confirmations. The unconstitutional filibuster survives in the arsenal of Senate liberals.

"We are grateful to Majority Leader Frist for courageously fighting to defend the vital principle of basic fairness. That principle has now gone down to defeat. We share the disappointment, outrage and sense of abandonment felt by millions of conservative Americans who helped put Republicans in power last November. I am certain that these voters will remember both Democrats and Republicans who betrayed their trust."

Call the seven scoundrels the Opera Buffa. These clowns think they're something great, when all they've done is undermine their leadership and betray the conservatives upon whom they depend for success.

They could serve until Bush left office, and we can use the time to build our Senate majority to 60 in 2006 and 2008.

Har! Oh, man!
My FRiend, as of tonight, THAT dream is dead as a doornail. At this point, I only wonder how many seats the Republicans will LOSE in the 2006 and 2008 elections.

Isolate the worst of the old-time ideologues among the Democrats - Kennedy, Kerry, Schumer, Feinstein, Byrd, Biden, Boxer, and others

You're right. Instead, what the Dems have done is isolated the worst of our guys. It's "Jumpin' Jim Jeffords" all over again....The Repubs get a 50-50 split in the Sen, so peel-off one limp-wristed Republican. Repubs get a 5 vote majority, so peel-off six limp-wristed Republicans. They'll be down another four seats in '07, so they'll work to peel off 10 limp-wristed Republicans. The "Stupid Party" seems to fit.

For Snow, Chaffee and DeWine, conservatives just sit out of the election in 2006 and these three who live in Blue States will lose by a narrow margin (RINO vs Liberal Dems) or win by a very slim margin (message is till sent). That will send a message to the remaining four RINO, change or put their reelection in jeopardy. GWB will submit the remaining four again after 2006.

This is what my husband has been telling me all night. He doesn't think we'll ever get another conservative on the Court.

I may be mixing it up with some globalist orgs of similar name.

What's it's history and top 3 priority goals?

Dobson's on target yet again.

Unfortunately, this is typical Republican behavior. Thety are deathly afraid of the mainstream media saying anything bad about them.

They really should change the party symbol from an elephant to a jellyfish.

About the Club for Growth

The Club for Growth is a national network of over 30,000 men and women, from all walks of life, who believe that prosperity and opportunity come through economic freedom.

The Club for Growth exists to encourage, and make possible, the enactment of pro-growth economic policies by the federal government. The primary tactic of the Club for Growth PAC has been to provide financial support from Club members to viable pro-growth candidates to Congress, particularly in Republican primaries.

Club for Growth Policy Goals:

He may be right, but I want to see what happens when President Bush pushes beyond these three justices and puts forward the names of another three of four conservative justices. You know he'll do that.

If Frist and gang fold at round two, then I will agree with Dr. Dobson.

But the most important nominations of all are the SCOTUS nominations. Suppose Cruella de Hillary works some voodoo and by hook or crook ascends to the throne in 2008. You can bet some liberal justices will be looking for tag team replacements. We have got to be in a position to stuff those nominees.

We have GOT to add an additional seat or three in the Senate in the 2006 and 2008 election cycles. That is vital.

THANKS.

Sounds great. I certainly support all those goals.

Glad to read of it.

Glad to be wrong.

...Can't blame it on McCain. He's just one Senator.

Is he still in the Republicans caucus? Hasn't been expelled from the party yet?

No?

Then I blame the Republican party...

He did have to have some help didn't he. It's not the whole party, but voters will have to stand against this if they expected their Republicans to vote Republican interests.

Lindsey Graham: "Democrat by night"

Well, according to a former Daschle aide, Graham was quick to work with Daschle and the minority on a number of issues. After one such meeting, Graham emerged from Daschle's office, walked to the door, turned around, and proclaimed loudly for the Daschle's entire staff to hear:

                                                  Senator Lindsey Graham

Every two years the Republican Party begs for my money, my support and my vote. We have faithfully given each for decades but with this traitorous "deal" to end the filibuster they have "screwed the pooch". They will not get my money, my support OR my vote, until they act like men and vote and support the conservative values regarding illegal aliens, social security and the conservative judicial nominees, etc..., that my family and I believe in and the conservative promises on which they ran their campaigns.

Now that they have been reelected they have promptly forgotten the people and values that placed them into power. Well, I for one am no longer their pawn. Count me out, this country will get the kind of "leadership" it deserves; liberal, socialist/communist and corrupt. From now on, all I care about is my family and their well-being, the country can go to hell for all I care, it is already well on it's way. And don't try to frighten me with the old: "You have got to vote or Hillery will get in" because as far as I am concerned, the Republican party nhas shown that they are no better than Hilery C, neither do they deserve my vote.

I have had it, I just sent the following to:

Chairman@gop.com

May 23, 2005

Dear Sir,

My family and I have been faithful supporters and active members of the Republican Party here in New Hampshire for years. The last Democrat I voted for was Jimmy carter in the 70’s. Due to the extreme cowardice and near treasonous disregard for the Constitution of the United States shown by the Republican members of the Senate of the United States, who decided to cave in to unreasonable demands from the Democrat side of the aisle, I will cease to provide contributions to the Republican National Committee. Until this party remembers who voted for it and behaves in a manner consistent with what its base believes in, you will not receive so much as one penny from me again.

Please remove my name from all of your mailing list, and my telephone number from your calling lists.

Mr. XXXX XXXXX

He doesn't think we'll ever get another conservative on the Court.

I have an informed hunch that all of this jockeying is intended to clear the way for Janice Rogers Brown to get the next open SCOTUS seat. That will likely be when Rehnquist retires. Brown is a bona fide Scalia-type conservative.

But we need more than one, we need three more.

"We need to come up with a name for these seven scoundrels."

How about calling it "The McCain Mutiny", and John McCain is the essential, "Captain Queeg". I caught sight of him on MSNBC with Chris Matthews, and he actually sounded as demented as Queeg!

Doesn't the senate majority leader get to make appointments to commitee posts? If so we'll see if Frist has the balls to punish these renagades.

They have shown utter disrespect for him as the leader - they have gone behind his back and done their own deal (unlike the dems who were doing it under Reid's control).

He should take this as a personal slap in the face and return the favor, if he's a man.

Also not piling on; the chart is a good idea. But Graham is not NE, he's SC. At the big RINO victory celebration tonight he said (on C-SPAN) that he knew he was going to make a lot of people "at home mad for a while." I hope they'll stay mad until 2008.
