My FRiend, as of tonight, THAT dream is dead as a doornail. At this point, I only wonder how many seats the Republicans will LOSE in the 2006 and 2008 elections.
So much for Bush's leadership. What happened to "I'm going to use my political capital"? If he had pushed THIS issue first it would have been DONE. But he had to squander his capital on the pathetic social secutiry efforts, alien amnesty and the MBNA-payoff bankruptcy bill. None of that is even a fraction as critical as control of the courts. Bush dropped the ball. What will he and Frist do now? If he permits this compromise, Presidential power will have been set back 3 decades.
