Actually, I am much more trusting of the Dems who agreed to this than if it had been Reid who was making the agreement. Some of the Dems who agreed to this are Red Staters up for re-election in '06.

The fact is, if they don't live up to the agreement, there is no compromise and we're back to where we started... only, we get Brown, Pryor and Owens in the meantime.

We had 'em on the ropes and let 'em go.

To paraphrase another poster,"They live to fight another day".

No, actually, I didn't.
I voted for him because I didn't want George Soros's puppet running the show.
I don't like the deficits, the inaction, the illegals, the huge social programs, etc.

I also don't like the fact that Republicans have been spending like Democrats on a New Deal and we've been suckered into turning our fight to judges and social issues and ignoring the proverbial elephant in the room.

Understand?

I have my TV back, but I reckon I missed Frist AND McConnell. Is McConnell angry or just disgusted?

The President deserves an up or down vote on ALL of his nominees.

He'll get it.

Funny, you've made one arguement I disagreed with and then went off on doing nothing but calling me names upon which I responded in kind.

And when you can't take the fact someone basically gave as good as he got you want to take your ball and go home.

And a clear reading of this thread shows you attack anyone that disagrees with you as "an idiot", "clueless", etc.

Mr. Pot, meet Mr. Kettle.

"I hear ya. McCain is so pleased with his sorry self. Too smug for my liking."

I hope he isn't planning on running for president now. Based on his ego, I'll bet he's still planning on it

I actually didn't realize that Frist hadn't been involved in negotiating this "deal." I'm glad to hear that, but it sure doesn't say much about his leadership skills if a bunch of weasels could simply slip out and do it on their own.

1) Frist is done. He can't even lead a majority. He didn't get his Up or Down vote as he promised, as he crusaded he would. Fristianity no more for 2008. He promised his base he can deliver this, and couldn't. Not only that, the American people want compromise. Instead, he told everyone how unhappy he was that there was bipartisan compromise. HORRIBLE political move.

This is totally right. They went over his head and neutered him in the process. If we desire to have a strong ML, then we should all be mad about this deal.

He should walk around with this cap on:

In a McCain vs Hitlery campaign, I will NOT VOTE FOR McCain.

Period.

The End.

You may be right. I just got home, and I still have yet to read or hear the entire "agreement."

They've called them all extreme, including Scalia.

Do you got anyone in mind that is man enough for the job and could get enough votes to get the spot?

No. And that's the problem.

Frist failed to lead. He cannot control his own caucus.

And you would have handled it how?

...and, frankly, if you are right, this seals McCain's fate for '08...he'll never get the GOP nomination. His future is bleak.

The Dimocraps "except in extrmeme cases" weasel clause is SPOT ON.

Every single one of the ones being philabustered today were labled as "extreme" (along with Bolton, Rumsfeld, Chaney, Halliburton, and Bush himself, among many others)

But they couldn't argue it straight out, because they sound stupid... so they just 'pay off' the RINOS with a few scraps.

It is EXACTLY like "Wimpy" from POPEYE saying "I'll gladly pay your tuesday, for a hamburger TODAY!" and they FELL FOR IT!!!

He's running, but with this deal made, he'll have to wait for another opportunity to jump parties.
