WJLA-TV in Washington, D.C. just broke in with a report that a small plane is being escorted out of D.C. restricted air space. This does not appear to be of the same threat level as the plane scare two weeks ago. The fighter jets flew over the area at a much higher altitude as before. However, they did make a lot of constant rumbling as they circled around the north side of D.C.
it'll soon become such a weekly thing it'll no longer make the news... until we shoot one down.
But...but ... Don't you remember the allegations and implications because the President didn't rush back to the White House to be a target on 9/11? And, how the media implied that the President was somehow negligent because he was bicycle riding during the last intrusion event?
Another Democrat trying to prevent a fair vote in the Senate?
Yeah, when they came overhead, the small plane was puttering along with one F-16 doing wide turns directly behind him followed by the second F-16 about a half-mile behind the first. The F-16s seemed to be almost mirroring each others moves (when one was out to the right, the other was out to the left, when one was above, the other was below, etc... When they got wide and high, they would roll it over and come down below the small plane. Like I said, it was pretty cool. Especially since I didn't get a chance to get out to the Open House at Andrews this weekend.
I was thinking it was just a training patrol. It wasn't nearly as window rattling as the previous episode.
This is becoming an all too frequent occurrence.
I wish I'd seen what you guys saw. I didn't make it to the air show either.
WTOP reporting the Senate briefly recessed during the incident. They also report the plane has landed at a Montgomery County airport.
I've thought about that, and I like "run for your lives" as a plan; it's natural and very easy to employ.
If there had been designated areas to assemble, all that prep would be useless as would our best "safety" zones. Imagine the party Newsweek would've had with that.
LOL... My father-in-law owns one of those fearsome machines.
Probabl;y going to Montgomery County for the classses on gays they give there.
Walk over to this guy and hand him a bill for the fuel these jets expended playing around with him. He wont make the same mistake again
At least it wasn't a hang glider.
FReepers on the ground ping! Best breaking news on the web.
(One of these days, Alice, kapow, right in the kisser.)
I do, and the puzzled questions about why he continued reading the goat story. Maybe it was very interesting.
One less stupid pilot is a problem... how?
Don't worry, the Blue Angels will be in Annapolis this week and then they will be back at PAX River September 3-4. Mark your calendar.
And that will be the *very* last time some idiot in a GA craft breaks that no-fly zone.
Yep. Free Republic rocks the Web with breaking news.
Thnaks. Labor Day weekend looks better for that. I'll probably visit Rolling Thunder this weekend.
