No problem. Congressman Tancredo from Colorado appears to be active in this, but there isn't anything current on his web page yet (http://tancredo.house.gov/), or on the Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus page that links from it.

Thought we oughta let all illegals in. And used the F word in the process.

DANG! I just had this visual of something irrelevant trying to say something, then all that remained was a few skidmarks of the ZOT!
Funny visual.

America badly needs to be protected from the invasion that is coming over the Mexican border. I support the Minuteman Project and admire the patriotic volunteers who were so successful in Arizona.
The National Guard would be much more effective, and it would send a message to Mexico and South America that we finally intend to enforce our laws. Deportations should follow as the immigration laws allow. Illegal aliens have been given a free pass for too long. Enough is enough!

The article makes no mention of that.Perhaps the actual report covers it,at least we should expect it to.
The old..The devil is in the details.

Agreed. I would hate to see the Minuteman Project be completely replaced, though.
The combination of the MMP,BP,and NG would send a strong message.

As an alternative to using existing powers and forces, the report said, a $2.5 billion annual initiative coordinated through the states for the issuance of Homeland Security grants could authorize and fund state militia, or state defense forces, to assist the Border Patrol. If they would take veterans in their 70's I'd join up in a NY minute

and who's going to replace them
We are in the process of relocating 70,000 troops from abroad; let me suggest that they should be relocated to the Mexican Border.

That would be a problem over the long term. But it would be an effective short term solution, rumors on the Mexican side would spread, and fewer would consider attempting to sneak. into the country. Then NG forces can be removed. Of course, that probably would not work for very long, our anti- American media wold tell them when the coast is clear.

"The report also called on Republican Govs. Rick Perry of Texas and Arnold Schwarzenegger of California and Democratic Govs. Janet Napolitano of Arizona and Bill Richardson of New Mexico to immediately request federal funding from Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld for the mobilization of 36,000 National Guard troops within 30 days. "
Hallelujah!!!! And THANK YOU, MINUTEMEN!!!
To: smoothsailing
Not a bad idea, it may give them a convenient training for other security missions as well.

Did I miss something? There was no mention of adding enough BP to shut this mess down. Putting the NG on the border until enough BP agents were recruited, and trained to do the job.
Our local version of the Minutemen started patroling a week ago, with only 15 to 20 volunteers, we can only cover about 5 miles of the border. The first night out 3 small groups of illegals were spotted, and called into the BP, since that nothing. When the group shows up on the border nothing happens in that area. The Border Patrol working in that area say their job is boring when we are there.
The MM proved that this is not rocket science, it is easy to stop with the proper resources, (manpower.) We, and hopefully many more groups are going to drive that point home.
