While Sen. Hillary Clinton (search) easily tops several Republican opponents in hypothetical 2006 U.S. Senate match-ups, New York voters are fairly evenly divided when it comes to possible 2008 presidential candidates, according to a FOX News Poll.

I'll believe it when I read the report that they're ice skating in hell.
Only if Gus Hall is at the top of the ticket.
Oh, you mean that kind of red. Never mind. . . .
Rudy is too liberal and will NOT get the nomination. I don't see New York voting for someone other than a liberal Republican. Before someone brings up "Reagan" let me tell you that he only won the state due to high upstate turnout and with the support of blue collar white Catholics. Since the mid-80s, upstate has lost alot of population, while the socially conservative "Reagan Democrats" are now pushing up daisies in cemetaries out in Queens. Even the suburban areas (Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester come to mind) vote Democrat on a local and national level now.
Wait, I thought New Yord DID vote red when they voted for Hitlery? Red as in COMMUNIST red!!
Ha, ha.
but, I thought this was the dumbest part of the Fox report...
"About the same number of New York voters think Clintons positions on the issues are "too liberal" (30 percent) as think Giulianis are "too conservative""
Giuiliani/? TOO conservative???
It just shows that voters in New York are just plain stupid if they think Giuliani is conservative!
Interesting. That woudl sink The Empress or whatever sap the Dimmycraps nominate.
Of course, the best thing would be to defeat her in 2006.
Nope. Won't happen. Too many commies in the city.
If the top performing republican is still 10% behind Hitlery, I don't see New York switching columns next election.
I'd say there is about a 5% chance.... That's a little less than the likelihood that Rudi will be the GOP nominee.
Republicans = Democrats anywhere else in the country.
Democrats = Marxist/Leninists.
In such a scenario, you can see why Giuliani is viewed as a "conservative."
I can't imagine NY State going for any GOPer in a presidential race these days.
Nevermind. Shoulda' kept reading. Still not planning on holding my breath November '08.
Let's put this in perspective...
NY wouldn't vote red in 2004 even after Osama bin Laden appeared on TV just before the election saying that he would do harm to those who voted for Bush. And, oh that's right, OBL bombed NYC on 9/11/01!
Still think NY will ever vote red? Exactly!!
I give it about the same odds as OK going for a Democrat.
They didn't mention anyone that I would vote for.
The point is that old Hill is in deep crap if a state like NY puts her at dead even where will she be in plkaves like Wisconsin and Nichigan that are only marginally blue.
If we win NY in the General then we nominated the wrong person.
Pence vs. Clinton in '08...
really the only way NYC goes to the GOP in 08, or even 06 is if Rudy runs and runs hard....
but it wont happen in 06 and he isnt going to get the nomination in 08 either....
NY has become more like DC than even California. The GOP shouldn't waste more than just token energy and money on it...
I think Republicans are going to lose seats in 2006 because unless then stop being so ineffective.
