Illegal Invasion: Modern Culture Is The Chief Culprit - (erosion of values makes us vulnerable)
CHRONWATCH.COM ^ | MAY 19, 2005 | CHRISTOPHER ADAMO

With Democrats and Republicans alike tap-dancing around the entire issue of illegal immigration, little hope for a true fix will be found until the root causes are addressed. And those causes go directly to the cultural rot that has run rampant in America over the past several decades.

But while society in general has been severely degraded by it, its effects are being manifested in the illegal situation to a greater degree than seemed possible only a few years ago.

It is no wonder that California, with obsessively “progressive” attitudes dominating every public institution from the local animal shelter to the highest state offices, is being completely overwhelmed by the influx of illegals. On every occasion that they attempt to take serious corrective action, Californians are thoroughly hamstrung by the very system they nurtured and promoted

California’s courts have no problem overruling any effort of the people to reign in the problem. Their schools, under the dominion of “political correctness” and multiculturalism, have long engaged in the soft segregationism of “bilingual education.” It is unrealistic to expect that they would advocate any resurgence of old-fashioned patriotism and Americanism that might promote the cultural assimilation of immigrants.

The government of Mexican President Vicente Fox has, in recent months, become increasingly hostile to American interests, even to the point of shielding Mexican citizens from accountability for murder committed within the U.S. borders. Of course the Fox government is quick to threaten legal action in the event that its invading legions are denied their “constitutional rights,” as defined by Mexican officials.

But Fox is not the ultimate villain. Rather, he is merely someone who recognizes opportunities made available to him by accomplices north of the border. The true culprits lurk among those in authority throughout local, state, and federal governing institutions of the United States. Without their collaboration, Fox could not hope for any success in his seditious efforts.

Consider the whole concept of “sanctuary cities,” which are jurisdictions that refuse cooperation with immigration authorities, thus providing safe havens for illegal immigrants. Such thinking results primarily from softheaded liberal philosophies, normally pursued in an effort to make their originators feel good about themselves (with an added benefit being the steady supply of dependent class voters).

But the unintended consequences can be dire. Denver, Colorado, one such city, is now in an uproar over the killing of a detective by an illegal immigrant who was apprehended on three occasions for such crimes as driving without a license and using phony identification papers. Yet because of “sanctuary laws,” prior to the murder he could not be held, deported, or even questioned. Now, as a fugitive, he has likely returned to Mexico where he will be “protected” from American justice.

Nor should Fox’s American collaborators be presumed to only reside among the political left. Just as the countercultural mindset has overtaken the Democrat Party, so has a mindless allegiance to capitalism undermined the Republicans. While capitalism is the inevitable byproduct of a free and just society, it is no more inherently moral, in and of itself, than any other economic system. Those who doubt this need only look to former Enron CEO Ken Lay.

Among unscrupulous capitalists, the flood of illegals provides a short-term financial windfall. But just as those on the left indulge their sympathies through “sanctuary laws” while disregarding the consequences inflicted on the rest of society, so do these business interests reap financial benefits in total disregard of the long-term detriment they are doing the country.

Primarily, they operate under the noble sounding premise that “illegal immigrants are only doing jobs that Americans will not do.” More accurately, they do jobs Americans refuse to do for Mexican wages.

In any case, how many jobs of this nature could there possibly be? Do they suggest that the twelve to fifteen million illegals already in this country are insufficient to perform such work? The stark truth is that illegals only linger briefly in such jobs, thereafter occupying higher rungs of the economic ladder, where they further displace American workers.

To whatever degree this scenario is economically viable, it requires an unending influx of illegals. Therefore, this strain of “capitalism” ultimately profits by giving the country away.

Americans who cherish their nation and hope to pass its blessings on to their posterity must immediately begin restoring their sense of national culture and patriotism. Otherwise, some very undesirable alternatives are waiting to replace it.

We need a true spiritual renaissance in the United States, to revitalize the meaning of "Morning in America." Traditional, historical, shared values can redeem us, but a strong resolve is required.

Im surprised we are as preserved as we are quite frankly with every conservative battlement under seige...TV is quite frankly crap now days Even supposedly smart TV such as the news is mindless drivel, Schools teach socialist multiculturalism and many young people would rather look good for 5 minutes and get impregnated by 16 than even take the time to learn about there country. If something big doesnt happen soon it looks like this country is on its last leg.

Sadly, it may be a bit late for that with all the "culture" that is illegally immigrating into the country. A good percentage of these folks are decent, hard working people trying to better themselves, but the other percentage is bringing 3rd world crime, diseases, gangs, etc here. Our guberment is doing virtually nothing about this and the flow continues. We will pay dearly in the long term in health, labor, social programs, culture, education, the list goes on. The cheap lettuce will stay cheap for the near future.

If by the 2006 election cycle our government hasn't taken on this problem in any serious fashion, then it's time for the voters to take matters into their own hands.

"We the people" should call up our combat arms vets who are willing to serve again, and secure the borders. I won't go into the mechanincs of it here, but it is quite a simple solution.

With apologies to those who wanted off the list (I've been off the grid for a while) I found this writer was totally on point here. Morning in America should not be the equivalent to a hangover. The advocates of illegal immigration are making a Furious Stand to win the hearts and minds of the uneducated. It's up to us who've kept up with news and developments to inform them with the least amount of bias possible.

I know - easier to bite off one's tongue. Just refer them to the countless threads on this site. Free Republic has turned four previous liberals I know from the dark side while dozens of formerly diehard Democrats I deal with are disgusted with their party and wavering. It's all about education and exposure.

Frankly, I still have a problem with "decent, hard working" people being here illegally. There are plenty of decent, hard working people from around the world who want to come here legally, not to mention plenty of decent, hard working citizens who could use some of those jobs.

Don't you think the "Federal Gov" might step in if something like that is attempted?

My sentiments exactly. If we are to open the floodgates and let the illegals pour in, shouldn't we be fair and let those of all nationalities and races in? It'd be racist to do otherwise...

I don't quite get your meaning. I'm reading what you say as a few liberals/democrats are beginning to disagree with their party's stance on illegal immigration. But - our party isn't doing any better at stopping the invasion. Or does this have nothing to do with Dem/Rep? (Personally, I'm looking for a 3rd party to vote for...)

Not to stray too much but i grew up in a primarily Mexican neighborhood and they are quite hardworking....unfourtanatly they also like to play hard but so do alot of Americans. Very outgoing culture even though they didnt have much they were always willing to share with anyone. A collective community more so than Anglo Suburban Culture....well here anyway in my new neighborhood its very isolationist i think people could learn a thing or two from them. Although yes Illegals should not be here and More border security should be errected Sorry to stray much Time for me to be flamed.

I think regarding the illegal invasion the polls indicate
that the overwhelming majority of Americans want secure
borders and an end to granting illegals the rights of
citizens. It's the politicians who havn't caught up with
the electorate. Too many Republicans want the cheap labor
and too many Democrats want the votes. Meanwhile, we're
confronting insolvent hospitals and bankrupt school
systems. We're spending millions in terms of costs and
higher taxes for welfare and incarceration of prisoners.
Many who cross over are felons and drug-runners. But
the most outrageous thing about our out-of-control borders
is its threat to our national security. Perhaps if (should
I say when?) some terrorists cross among the illegal
hordes and massacre Americans the pols will wake up.
Then George Bush will go into hiding and say he thought
they only wanted to do the work that Americans wouldn't
do.

Hi SV - The platform of the American Independent Party, the California affiliate of the Constitution Party, is very interesting. Here's the website:

You took the words out of my mouth. The author is correct that there is NO leadership from either party. Politicians on both sides of the aisle get their pockets lined while the middle class is increasingly impoverished.

Bush pursues his own selfish and partisan agenda that has no relationship to the will of the people. He labels the valiant men on the border vigilantes, and then sends a check to cover a small fraction of the costs dumped on California by illegal aliens: enough to finance perhaps 25% of their estimated medical care for the next year. It's a token gesture intended to mollify which should have the opposite effect.

Well, look on the bright side -- it's hurting the trade unions and wreaking havoc on enforcement of the liberals' minimum wage schemes.

From what I've seen so far, the only thing that will stop the flood is a very hot shooting war on the border, one that just gets bigger and more violent with every passing day. That would get somebody's attention.

Lots of solutions here, however there is only one that will work.

II Cronicles 7:14:

If my people which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Thanks. I knew I was missing a party when floating the idea that three of the independendent parties should combine to become a serius contender. Constitution, Independent and half of the Libertarians. That would be a good thing.

I might be missing one.

I couldn't agree with you more. I am against illegal immigrants totally(see my tagline). I happen to be married to a foreign citizen and have to go through mounds and mounds of paperwork, time, a considerable expense to take her to the USA legally. I have to sign a financial disclaimer that she will not be a burden to the taxpayer, yet these folks do absolutely nothing and get all the benefits. It really pi$$es me off.

It is no wonder Arnold says close the borders, he must be watching the budget go down the tubes. I only wish he hadn't retracted the statement, as a governor in the middle of a mess he's in a good position to say something about this.
