After-Action Report: EMERGENCY PROTEST OF NEWSWEEK
May 16, 2005 | firebrand

Posted on 05/16/2005 5:42:29 PM PDT by firebrand

Just returned from the protest and after-protest hash and rehash.

Attending: Doctor Raoul, firebrand, TFine80, davide, and Don (not a freeper).

We stood outside the Broadway entrance from 4:45 to about 6:30, holding our signs and shouting our heads off: "Don't buy Newsweek," "Newsweek Lied, People Died," "Flush Newsweek," "Newsweek Lies to America," etc. The signs said pretty much the same, along with "There Are Lies, Damn Lies, and Homicidal 'Reporting,'" "Former Newsweek Reporter Will Lie for Food," and TFine80's sign, which said something like "And you wonder why they hate us!"

Many people stopped to chat. There were the usual Manhattan liberals (one of them was ready to sue davide for false advertising or something because she wasn't really a former Newsweek reporter), but a surprising number of positive responses. A Marine stopped by to find out more about it, and confirmed that rumors quickly go out of control in the Middle East, as this one did.

Doctor Raoul had called Fox News and the New York Post, and a photographer from Polaris Images took quite a few good shots of our signs and us. He had come by just to get a picture of the Newsweek marquee and hadn't expected to see protesters there.

If this story continues, there may be other protests, so stay tuned.

BIG, BIG thank-you to all who went out of their way to attend on such short notice, and to StarFan for putting up the excellent announcement thread.

There were no riots when the original story was published in 2003. Why do you think that was? Perhaps the owner/editor of the Washington Post wasn't the target? Or the signs for the 'riot' were not ready? LOL! (Or Imran Khan was on holidays?)
You are ALL allowing islam to pull the wool over your eyes.

(The 'rioters' signs were ready in advance, and so professional, did you notice? LOL!)

Yes I did ;-)

The destabization efforts are being orchestrated by none other than Saudi Arabia from what it looks like here and they are not limited to one country, but the entire region simultaneously - I think we will be okay here, but Indonesia is going to be rough. There is a rumour that the State Department will be issuing a warning sometime this week - I'll try to get more details today and confirm it if I can.

I pinged you to another thread just now as well.

'He' is an expat in Southeast Asia. When 'he' writes 'over here' 'he' means Malaysia. Got that?

Tfine80,

Well, thanks for what you did yesterday! That sign of yours really struck a nerve, because of that terrible cover Newsweak published several months back--which was tantamount to a "kick me" sign for our nation and our military.

FreeRepublic rapid reaction team - Doctor Raoul, firebrand, TFine80, davide, and Don (not a freeper). Well done - wondered why Newspeake fully retracted the story.

As far as I am concerned, they should deliver the heads of the Newsweek people to the Middle East.

I believe a crime was committed here and Isikoff knew exactly what he was doing. Newsweek has been trading on liberalism forever. It doesn't take an intellect to understand that if you just look through any issue. The crime was to inflame against America, and the liberal crowd who writes for the media knows it. Journalism no longer means anything if it can't report a story truthfully. Americans once again see what is going on very clearly. If the news people at Newsweek think this too shall pass...try CBS and Dan Rather on for size. Newsweek will go into the dumper along with all the other garbage.
