If anyone doubted which side of the political aisle is playing dirty in the fight over federal judicial nominees, he hasn't read about the National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League's mission to dig up financial and other dirt against 30 sitting federal appellate judges.
Columnist Bob Novak unveiled the story in his May 16 column, reporting that a California political consulting firm requested the financial records of U.S. Appeals Court Judge Edith Jones and 29 other "appellate judges in all but one of the country's judicial circuits, including nine widely mentioned Supreme Court possibilities." According to Novak, such a mass request for disclosure by federal judges is unprecedented.

So dweeb Reid is using blood $ for his dirty work, ay?
One of you Freepers said he looked like a small town funeral director. (: Culture of "Death becomes Him."
In other words, if the person tithes, they could be a religious extremist, they want to know if the canidates for the bench donate to churches, religious charities, politicians, and if possible find dirt, they'll almost certainly look into what they consume..i.e. books, magazines, products ordered, etc.
Anyone who didn't know Reid was a snake hasn't been paying attention.
"Reid Bigger Snake Than First Thought"
Hmmm. I thought he was a pretty big snake in the first place.
Reid is a scum bag.
The "Abortion" part I fully understand. But what is the reason for the "Reproductive Rights" in the group's name? Nobody is attempting to infringe on anyone's reproductive rights. Everyone has the right to get pregnant and have a baby (i.e., reproduce.) The only right this group is concerned with is the right to not reproduce after they become pregnant--their "Constitutional" right to abortion. What section of the Constitution is that in, again? Can't seem to find it in my dog-eared copy.
Harry Reid thinks he is president saying Bush should nominate someone like david souter or sandra day o conner to the supreme court.
What makes my skin crawl is that without the nuclear option and lock step dem worshipping of harry reid is that he uis the de facto president on judges, you need his approval and ted kennedy or chuck schumer's approval on judges.
The dems say consult with us let us pick the judges.
Democrats and the rino republicans that believe in minority rights really believe in minority dictatorship rule like harry reid is so doing. Harry Reid is like saddam with his minority rule.
This reid character is a joke calling bush a loser, greenspan a hack, secret fbi files, calling judge thomas an embarrassment.
Reid has hired many of his family members as lobbyists.
And Reid thinks he is some great power, an article in the las vegas review journal said that reid went to get a bite to eat with 10 agents at his side and reid has the las vegas metro police shut down the highway on ramps to let reid's motorcade free of traffic during rush hour.
what I don't understand is that the dems say these judges are "far out of the mainstream". just who decides what is mainstream?
Reid is such a dumbass he was railing against the no nchild left behind act about how it was ruining our schoools when ted kennedy and most of the democrats voted for it and it was ted kennedy's bill.
Reid the former lightweight boxer has been hit one too many times.
Reid was railing about the defecit when the dems just blocked the 14 billion cuts to medicare.
n
Harry Reid is so lucky if it wasn't for the libertarian and constitution parties he would be out of office.
Reid beat ensign in 1998 by 421 votes and the constitutiontand libertarian parties got over 10,000 votes.
Ted Kennedy decides who is mainstream with the current ystem we have now. I think Ted Kennedy called owens a radical. She is so radical that she rulned for parental notification that most americans agree with.
Either we get 4 more gop senators or invoke the nuclear option. If neither happens just move harry reid and ted kennedy into the west wing.

Didn't I read somewhere that Reid set up a warroom in the senate as soon as he was sworn in? If so, why would anyone be surprised that they are farming out the legwork to Democratic consultants to dig dirt on judicial nominees (and probably lots of others like their fellow elected officials?) They have plenty of Soros' money to spend on their filthy under-handed typical Democrat operating procedures besides buying votes. Did everyone read the other day that the phone call Frist made to the activist groups (Dobson et.al) concerning judicial nominees was "scrambled?" At least the "stupid party" has finally realized the Democrats have all their phones bugged. They learned something from the taped phone call the Martins of FL "accidentally" overheard, taped and supplied to McDermott.
I miss Tiny Tom.
(never thought I would say that)
Mostly the dems and the media.
I can't for the life of me remember who said it, but it had to do with what the media thought, the quote was something to the effect of...
"The democratic party is the center, the voters are to the right of center and the republicans are to the far right".
In essence, the dems think the voters themselves are outside of the mainstream.
Look at mostly liberal boards, and its clear they are really angry with the voters. Those who can't accept that the voters are not liberals, are the ones who push diebold conspiracy talk.
Of course minorities have rights -- or this would be a fascist country. There is no freedom without both freedom of the individual, or freedom from the tyranny of the majority.
Tyranny of the minority is something altogether different -- and subjective -- and this is most likely what you're against -- but suggesting that a minority doesn't maintain Constiutional rights is, well, unconstitutional.
If, on the other hand -- you're referring to "minority rights" as affirmative action, etc. -- then that's anti-freedom, anyway. People have the right to hire who they wish to hire, and they also have the responsibility, as Americans to not be racist. If both parties hold up their end of "personal responsibility," then there's no need for government involvement.
It's subjective, of course. This country, for the last couple decades, has traditionally run in a bell-curve shape, the center coming out slightly in favor of the conservative position. I would say that the position of moderate conservatives are the mainstream. But that's just me.
Don't be naive. Most parties do, and have always done this kind of thing. Of course, it's not nice, but it's totally separate from the issues, at hand and muddles the discourse.
