I has to start this week..because there will be long debate before Frist invokes cloture..then there is another 30 hours..the highway bill comes up today..I think Bolton comes up tomorrow..
Unless he gets tapped for another VP run, Holy Joe will stay in the Senate forever, bet on it.
Who would the GOP run in that race? I hope he/she is to the right of Lieberman. :-)
Watch it... you're getting personal! LOL!
He speaks better than Harry, he is probably auditioning for Harry's job!
What's a Bodfish?
That I will bet you on..look..he's virtually been run out of his own caucus..booed off the stage..they gave more credence to Sharpton and Kucinich than him..he doesn't want to be in the minority for another term..and growing left/lib/black anti-semitism in the Dem party has to frost him..and he is NOT a wealthy name..he could make some serious money in the private sector..
In a rabid sort of way, he does speak better than the horrid one. Harry is the ultimate pathetic whiner.
You just HAD to ask, didn't you?

Thanks for the ping, Howlin! I'll try to catch up this afternoon...We are having a teenager/driving/tickets/family problem right now, so I've been having trouble getting my thoughts together to post. Teenage grandsons are something else!!!
I din't see Mort Zuckerman with McLaughlin. Was it John's One on one program? Because I did see the McLaughlin Group and Mort wasn't on that.
I need to find out more about Specter's health.
I'll read this thread this afternoon if there is a little peace in this house for a while.

WTF?
Bodfish is 16.8 miles from Onyx, CA.

GMTA my friend.
Zell Miller is DEFINITELY the Tasmanian Devil.
Ted Kennedy is George the Dog
Joe Biden is Foghorn Leghorn.
Barbara Boxer is Henrietta the Hen.
"I say, I say, Henrietta, let go of my leg there."
My husband learned from his mistake. He's only voted the Republican ticket ever since.
If he is serioius about reverting to his pre-AlGore stances (you can never be sure), you don't want to replace him with an ultra-liberal like CT AG Blumenthal who will bide his time as our next governor--ugh.
"yay-us!"
Sheets could also be Foghorn. He does have the accent. And I can see Biden as Daffy, but I love Daffy too much to do that.
"And if the Dems get the majority, we can't filibuster their people either."
Friend, we have liberal judges on the federal courts today because they got 50+ votes in a democratic-controlled senate. That is the point. Judicial nominees have never been filibustered and should not be...regardless of which party controls the senate.
Bolton isn't even on the Executive Calendar yet.

I'm not sure how to parse paragraph 1 of Rule XXXI (it seems to pertain both to committee and the full Senate, but I'm not sure), but one interpretation is that a nominee will not be voted on the same day the nomination appears on the calendar, unless there is unanimous consent that "the question be put."
Riddick's Senate Procedure also indicates a need for unanimous consent to take the vote, even if the vote is to take place on a day other than the day the nominee is reported by a committee.

RULE XXXI
EXECUTIVE SESSION - PROCEEDINGS ON NOMINATIONS1. When nominations shall be made by the President of the United States to the Senate, they shall, unless otherwise ordered, be referred to appropriate committees; and the final question on every nomination shall be, "Will the Senate advise and consent to this nomination?" which question shall not be put on the same day on which the nomination is received, nor on the day on which it may be reported by a committee, unless by unanimous consent.
Thanks....all of that is on the other side of the mountain from my more traveled route up the 395 north.
