OK, folks..let's se what going to happen today as we move closer to the showdown in the Senate. Live, at 1 PM EST on C-span 2, "Searchlight" Reid is holding a presser to discuss judicial nomination. The Senate then convenes at 2PM, and as Majority Leader, Frist will make the opening statement. Then Reid will speak. Frist as pissed at Reid last week..for announcing a possible compromise on the Senate floor without FIRST telling him of it..and Frist has yet to speak about Reid's comments about FBI files. Should be fireworks..
Thank you. :-)
I heard the earliest would be on Wednesday, if then.
The end of debate for the highway bill is end-of-session tomorrow. The judiciary debate starts Wednesday AM. Owen is up first. I don't know how much time Frist is giving to debate on her. Brown is second.
Who said that he was going to?
I really think so. Reid is blinded by anger and frustration, and he is also nuts. Not stupid, really- but NUTS.
Dayton, MN is retiring...
If Sarbanes health is an issue (Reid just announced he's in the hospital)we have a Pubbie governor there...
Jeffords (Benedict Arnold) is retiring....
Kohl, WI is vulnerable to a good candidate
I can't understand why Red State North Dakota keeps sending Conrad back...
And I would LOVE to see Rudy take on Hitlery...
How's that for an early list?
Besides, he doesn't have to NAME anyone exactly...!
and Chappaqua is an insane asylum..with the inmates on work release programs..
Now Ken, I was going to let you off the hook for the last few weeks. But since you brought it up: going out to Shea this week to see the Yanks' eclipse the Mets' record?
As for the dinner, all I heard reported was that they dined at Frist's home and duck was on the menu. From what Reid has said today, I gather no agreement was reached last night. Maybe Reid didn't make it to dessert.
Cheers.
Well, like I said, anything could happen. If Specter wants to go out that way, fine.
But you might could say with just as much certainty that Lieberman could cross over the aisle to our side, especially if he knows that the dems don't have the votes. He is not well loved (to put it mildly) by the far left because he is a moderate democrat. His future might very well be better served by distancing himself from them if it his belief that the far left is going down the toilet, which they very well may be.
One can hope so anyway.
Sarbanes will stay til the end of the term..do a Thurmond..Dems would never allow the Md governor to appoint Steele to the Senate seat..
True, he could just slime them from a distance a la Judge Saad.
You owe me about 4 six packs I believe...Mets will win 4 of 6 from the Yankees..
I wasn't so much implying that he would be useful, only that, of all possible candidates from this state, he's one of the more middle of the road. Allyson Schwartz, who was just elected to the Pa. State Senate is a raving socialist on heels. While he isn't a Democrat in the stripe of a Zell Miller, he doesn't totally toe the line of the card-carrying socialists either. I do also realize that things change when you enter national politics, as happened with Al Gore.
DUCK? Wabbit! Duck! Wabbit! Duck!
Yes, it should look good
Problem is .. The "true" conservatives can't see past the nose on their face and will blow this opportunity
It's all about "principles" ya know
Kohl is a lock..sadly..re Conrad..the small-state voters feel that seniority benefits them...THune had toi work hard against that argument..
Rush should change his "For those of you from Rio-Linda" to "For those of you from Searchlight".
Dang!!!
I'm missing all the good stuff today and watching Reid leaping off the cliff
