When an anonymous professor launched a brutally candid Web site, some SMU students thought the resemblance to their school was striking and offensive.
The "Phantom Professor" blog dished about epidemic eating disorders and wealthy students looking for a "Mrs." degree. The author dubbed girls in $500 sandals toting $1,500 handbags "the Ashleys" and called a handsome male colleague "Hot Pockets."

Try that.
My Mom went to SMU!
Thanks, just read it.
And.. holy cow.
Teaching ethics.. and having a list of things said in confidence in their office.
Wow.
Apparently, it doesn't actually check.
..excuse me, But that has been going on since human society mores were created...Medical Doctor/Engineering/(insert) Major students/grads. joke about it all the time...stupid/brainless students
From a TCU grad........howdy
A little bit of a disconnect by the students. We aren't like that at all/she hurt my feelings because she described me online.
If they did fire this guy, shame on them.
He writes really well, and his writing show that he cares a lot about his job and the people he teaches.

I think SMU is a good school.
There are quite a few kids there, busting their tail ends, hoping to do real work. Many on financial aid.
So the claim by folks that its all snot nosed spoiled brats, is way off.
The school has some good programs.
Sure there are rich kids there....AS THERE ARE AT EVERY COLLEGE IN THE COUNTRY.
So the prof was a little too over the edge on this one.
Not to mention posting things that happened in confidence.
Anyone even vaguely familiar with SMU knows how true that is, fwiw.
Oh, and Go Stangs.
Says the prof, Liner, wrote for the Dallas Observer.
Egads.
You know, sometimes you will find some really good journalism in that rag. Especially when it comes to local matters. They will investigate stuff that The Dallas Morning News won't touch.
