The White House announced this morning that President George W. Bush will speak to the 2nd Annual National Catholic Prayer Breakfast, Friday, May 20th at the Washington Hilton in Washington DC.
Go to http://www.catholicprayerbreakfast.com to read the press release on this announcement and also to read the security memo.
This is a great honor for the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast.
Mr Bush was the first American president to attend the funeral of a Pope when he went to Rome for Pope John Paul 11's funeral along with global leaders and individual believers who waited in lines as long as 24 hours to view the Pope's body as it lay in state at the Vatican.
President Bush said he was touched by the solemn Mass celebrated on the steps of the Vatican, adorned by the simple wood casket holding John Paul's 11 body, which preceded the Pope's burial.
The funeral was attended by religious leaders of every denomination, heads of state, and royalty from around the globe.
The funeral Mass was concelebrated by then-Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger---now Pope Benedict XV1---John Paul 11's successor.
The impact of 2004 Values Voters---the Catholic, Black, and denominational religious vote----is so striking, even Hillary is trying to look like Mother Teresa. Here's why:
Conservative pro-life Christian voters made monumental contributions to GWB's 2004 vote totals. Pres Bush won with 63 Million Votes (13 million more than 2000).
The map, though impressive, conveys the misleading impression that blue state Catholics voted for Kerry (a CINO).
According to EWTN "The World Over Live" analysts, with the exception of VA, where Catholics spit 70/30 in favor of Bush, the majority of Catholic voters split 55/45 for Bush.....a whopping number of votes since Catholics number about 52 million Americans.
According to CNN exit polls, Bush voters included 38% of union members, 40% of those with union members in their households, 42% of those earning $15,000-$30,000, 44% of those who earn under $50,000 and 44% of Latinos, 45% of youth (aged 18-29), 13% of liberalseven 11% of Democrats voted for Bush.
2004 Election polls indicated 34% called themselves conservative, 21% liberal.
The National Association of Evangelicals represents 39 million churchgoers. There are an estimated one billion Catholics around the world.
America's census bureau said 159 million US citizens describe themselves as Christians.
If you look closely, the map appears to place the insignificant "Other Voters" in the ocean.....that's accurate, because "Other Voters--RINO Republicans" were on cruise ships while the rest of Americans were home working.
(MAP UPDATE Bush won Ohio, Iowa and New Mexico later.)
man it would be so awesome if Jeb could get him to convert before he leaves office.
Do you think Kennedy and Kerry will attend?
Why's that?
What about the other 22%. How could any evangelical vote for Kerry? Must be those be folks from People for the American Way and the rest of the Christless Christians.
SAME THOUGHT!
THE PRESIDENT KNOWS CHRIST DIED FOR HIS SINS!
Betcha dollars to donuts conversion has been discussed.
Did you happen to catch the video of GWB on election night, sitting with his family in the WH?
A side table prominenty displayed a framed miniature of the Blessed Mother---one that is popular in Catholic art history.
Yeah, and Chris Dodd and Joe Biden (/sarc).
It developed later that some believers voted for Kerry as a protest vote against the secularist neocons in the Bush admin who had sandbagged President Bush, and gave our President false data in the runup to Iraq.
A number of evangelical voters reacted to this betrayal of our President.
God only knows how big the Bush win would have been were it not for devious secularists. President Bush is trusting and places great emphasis on loyalty---as do all true conservatives.
Secularists have no such loyalty. Morover, true-blue conservative values on social issues are anathema to these people.
They are "Sojourner" evangelicals and nothing more.
If anyone knows. Any practicing Catholics in the Bush cabinet?

Coleus,President Bush bump.
Karol Wojtyla was born on the 18th of May 1920 not the 20th.
We must not ever forget the reasons why Americans vote for their presidents.
Americans love their country, and have definite views on the priority values that should prevail.....they vote their values, and their conscience.
For your information, I am very careful about making statements. I don't need you to lecture me.
I have absoutely no use for agents provacateur with agendas. Let those who value loyalty ---who are authentic conservatives---not conservatives of convenience with agendas----stand with President Bush.
In sum, I suggest you try thinking bigger thoughts, instead of relying on your ambitious provincialism.
I see one of their speakers is going to be Abp Chaput, too. He's been extremely outspoken on pro-life, anti-gay "marriage," and other social issues. Very positive news.
